Achievements

The 19th National Physics Student Olympiad, taking place from April 21 to 24, attracted 49 teams to DTU, with almost 300 talented students and their physics teachers and experts nationwide to participate.

 

With their passion for physics, DTU’s contestants outstandingly won three First prizes, one Second prize, two Third prizes, one Consolation prize, and a Second Group prize.

 

 

The National Student Physics Olympiad is organized annually by the Vietnam Physical Society, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Central Student Society, and the Ministry of Education and Training. It is one of the activities organized to promote learning and research in physics among the students of colleges, universities, and other institutes nationwide. It is also a big intellectual arena, spurring young physics talents to develop their abilities and their creativity. In 2016, the National Physics Olympiad was, for the first time, organized at DTU, a private university, and this year the number of contestants and delegations surpassed all those of previous years. 

 

The 2016 Physics Olympiad noted the emergence of many young talents, honoring those with the best contest results. The DTU team won many high prizes, both individual and group. In particular, three First prizes for the Multiple choice test came to Nguyen Huu Minh Phung, Ngo Tan Phuc, and Phung Dang Hoang Phuong. A Second Exercise prize came to Nguyen Huu Minh Phung. Le Hoang Long and Huynh Tan Vu obtained Third prizes for Experimentation, and Nguyen Nhat Tri got a Consolation prize for the Exercises.

Delighted at the result achieving, Phung Dang Hoang Phuong, a first-year student of the DTU International School, said: “The Multiple choice test in the National Student Physics Olympiad demands that students not only firmly grasp basic to expert knowledge, but also have a keen mind, a good memory, and to know the ‘trick’ to solve specific questions, so as to quickly and correctly answer them. With the skills and knowledge obtained at DTU and with the passionate guidance from my teachers throughout my studies, I had the necessary skills to complete the test well. The prize I obtained this year will be a motivation to commit myself even more to my studies, and to more confidently participate in many intellectual contests in Vietnam and abroad.” 

 

At the Awards Ceremony, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations awarded DTU a Certificate of merit for the efforts DTU has made in hosting the 19th National Student Physics Olympiad. This validates the ability of DTU to successfully organize such national-scale intellectual competitions. In addition, DTU also received a Certificate of merit from the Vietnam Physical Society for its good achievements in and contributions to all National Student Physics Olympiads so far.
