A Passion for Youth Union Work
Since she was a schoolgirl, Nguyen Thi Tuyet has always taken the lead in extra-curricular activities at her school. By participating, she has managed to exchange experiences and make new friends to broaden her outlook and develop. Stimulated by the dynamism of life in the coastal city of Danang, she was impressed by the excellent quality of education and the academic state-of-the-art environment at DTU, so she decided to study at first and biggest private university in Central Vietnam to realize her dreams.
With twelve years of experience as Class President from primary through secondary school, Tuyet was quickly entrusted in that role by the students of K17KND3 in all four years of her studies. Her resourcefulness, enthusiasm and professionalism draw the admiration of her peers and people around her. Through her hard work in the Union, she was elected onto the Executive Committee of the Accountancy Union, in only her second year. She then became Vice-Secretary of the Faculty Union and an Executive Committee Board Member of the DTU Youth Union in her third year on. Soon after that, the Inter-Union General Assembly for Accountancy, which she single-handedly organized, was elected as an exemplary component of all faculties in the school.

Charitable community programs and collective activities in arts and sports hold a special attraction to Tuyet. “Being a member of the Union has broadened my experience and improved my practical skills,” Tuyet explains. “In this way, I have matured and become stronger and more assertive, in order to always confidently overcome the difficulties and challenges I will encounter in the future in my life and career.”
With the aim of bringing DTU students together in a productive and healthy environment, Tuyet has teamed up with groups within the school to successfully organize several new programs, such as the Soccer Prize for Accounting and the DTU Student Festival. In addition, she has partnered with organizations from inside and outside to arrange other important charitable activities, including the outstanding Gift-Giving program for poor children in Quang Nam province and the Back to the Roots program that donates gifts to the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers of Hoa Vang district.
A Studying Role Model
She is passionate about spending much time on Union work but Tuyet still considers studying to be her most important activity. By striking a fine balance between study and other activities and using effective study techniques, she drew much admiration when, after four years of university, she graduated with outstanding results. Her secret is to not only do her best in the classroom, but to follow up with self-study in the library and at home. If she didn’t understand something, she would ask her teachers or her peers for guidance, until the topic became deeply entrenched in her mind.
Now actively engaged in research, Tuyet has already some definite achievements in her name. Her project “Factors influencing the quality of the Union participation of DTU students” was rated Good in 2015, which motivated her to learn more about the issues and develop her research. This strongly contributes to the extensive research of all the DTU students.
“I tell myself I should not stop striving, so that, when there is much homework to do, I still try to stay up late to finish my work,” she smiles. “After graduation, I will continue to study for an advanced degree, to expand my knowledge and skills and make my dreams come true. I also hope to work for and be a part of Duy Tan University long-term, and dedicate my efforts and my intellect to the development of our university and country.”
