On 23rd December, the DTU Faculty of Information Technology and the Danang Department of Information and Communications announced the 2016 Computerized Fireworks Competition. The organizers, DTU lecturers and students attended the event.

The organizers presented details of the competition. The Legendary Han River is the theme of this year’s competition. Performances will last for about twenty minutes, using Windows, Linux, Android and Mac computers. Displays can be designed and built in two different ways, using programming languages such as C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or by using applications such as AfterGlow, Finale FireWorks, FWSim, ShowSim, Photoshop, Corel, Adobe AfterEffect or Flash. Internet voting will account for 40% of the score and the judges will then evaluate performances based on perfection, innovation, beauty and technology.

Videos of previous performance were shown and Tran Anh Tuan, who came first with a display entitled “The Celestial Prince of Phu Dong” in 2014, talked about lay-out design and music selection.
Mr. Truong Tien Vu, Acting-Dean of the IT Faculty, said: “IT students enjoy demonstrating their creativity and applying their IT skills in a real-time situation. We will help them as much to produce an impressive performance.”
The competition will run from 16th January to 30th March, 2016, with awards ceremonies from 1st to 15th of July. The first prize will be 15 million dong, the second 10 million, and third 5 million, with several consolation prizes of 3 million dong each.
