DTU Students Come Top in the 2014 Computer Fireworks Competition

Tran Anh Tuan of Duy Tan University was awarded a first prize of 15 million dong and a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee, with a display entitled “Phu Dong Thien Vuong” (Celestial Prince of Phu Dong). Four other DTU students, including Nguyen Thanh Lam, Nguyen Van Trong, Doan Cong Truc and Phan Xuan Dat, won a second prize of 10 million dong and a Certificate of Merit, with a show entitled “Tuoi Tre Cung Nam Thang” (Youth and the Passage of Time).  A solid knowledge in Information Technology and fine creativity helped DTU students break records, win top prizes and demonstrate their talents and spirit in a competition that attracted IT enthusiasts from all over Vietnam.

The 2014 Computer Fireworks Competition was hosted by the Danang Department of Information and Communications with participants from Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, An Giang, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and elsewhere. Thirty submissions highlighted Danang as the most livable city in Vietnam. After evaluating the performances, the judges awarded one first, one second, one third prize, a consolation prize, a creative prize, two most impressive prizes and two most promising prizes to the best entrants in the awards ceremony on January the 1st, 2015.

Mr. Pham Kim Son, Director of the Danang Department of Information and Communications and chief of the organizing committee, said: "Since 2000, the Danang People’s Committee has implemented policies to boost the use of IT applications in Danang. This competition has provided a big opportunity for young people to demonstrate their patriotism and contributed to the increasing popularity of Danang worldwide. The excellent performances of DTU students have won the hearts of the judges and a first prize. The most creative and professional displays will serve as useful examples for the Vietnamese team in the upcoming International Fireworks Competition, to be hosted in Danang on April 28th and 29th."

Tran Anh Tuan, who won first prize, said: "I am delighted to win the first prize in the 2014 Computer Fireworks Competition. In addition to the skills we have accumulated at DTU and our hard work, we have received very strong support from the DTU Board of Trustees and from our highly qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic lecturers of the Graphic Design, Games and Multimedia department."
