DTU Wins High Rewards in the 2014 Loa Thanh Tournament

Loa Thanh is a valuable prize awarded to Architecture and Construction students nationwide who wrote a brilliant graduation thesis. With a second, a third and a consolation prize won in the 2014 Loa Thanh Tournament held in Hanoi on November the 30th, DTU students have added three more high awards to their great achievements in the National Loa Thanh Tournament over the years.  These achievements reflect the significant return on investment in education and research at DTU and the creativity of the Architecture and Construction students.

The Organizers received a hundred sixty-eight graduation theses of Architecture and Construction from twenty-three educational institutions from all over the country.

Two other Danang students won awards. They were from the Danang University of Technology, with two third prizes, and the Danang University of Architecture, with one council prize.

The project submissions of DTU students are designs of sustainability, modernity, usability and environmental friendliness. The “Bach Dang Plaza Complex project” by Nguyen Cong Dung and Phan Quoc Huy, which came in second, aims to build a modern trade center in Danang city. Smart solutions of the structure and implementation were proposed and automatic calculations, were made to optimize the structure. The “Dung Quat Wharf 2” plan (Stage 1) by Tran Thi Minh Tran, who came in third, aims to construct a passenger wharf to meet the increasing demand of tourists and for fishermen to anchor their boats and ships in the rainy season.

The “Agri Park planning” project of Tran Thi Mai Li, who won the Council prize, aims to build an entertainment park in rural area to attract more tourists who look for peace and fresh air and to help locals develop their traditional crafts.
 
Phan Quoc Huy said: "The award has become a great encouragement for new graduates like me to apply what I studied at DTU to my job. I thank the DTU Architecture Faculty for their dedication and support. They provided me with all the latest information and inspired me to continue to foster my creativity and ambitions. DTU provided us with good opportunities to visit and do internship in big companies that helped us acquire a lot of practical knowledge so that we could gain such achievements.”
 
Dr. Nguyen The Duong, Dean of the DTU Faculty of Civil Engineering, said: “Putting top priority on the quality of education, DTU has collaborated with many well-known universities in the world. Some of which are Cal Poly (ranked in the top five leading American universities in Architecture) and CSU Fullerton (one of the leading public universities in Construction and Architecture on the West Coast). DTU has provided local business enterprises with a large number of highly-qualified engineers and architects. Besides, DTU students have reaped many high awards in both national and international competitions. Unique feasible projects with high productivity proposed by DTU students have reflected the quality of education and training at Duy Tan University”

Graduated from DTU, the students who won prizes in the 2014 Loa Thanh tournament have already found good jobs. Nguyen Cong Dung works for Song Da 3 Joint-Stock Company, Phan Quoc Huy works for Thanh Giang Company and Tran Thi Mai Li works for V-ACS Construction Company. With their aspiration for studying, DTU alumni of Architecture and Construction have been making efforts to gain more success on their career paths.
