Together with more than 200 students from ten ASEAN member countries, DTU students showed their spirit and confidence when they put forward and debated ideas on current regional and global issues faced by the region.

With the theme “Voices Today, Echoes Tomorrow”, students from all ASEAN member state Delegations took on the role of diplomats from the ten ASEAN member countries participating in discussions and establishing a Declaration to solve hot topics of environment, economy, society, security and culture.

Ho Trung Duong, a student of the DTU Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, said: “This is the first time I have met friends from ten ASEAN member countries and I feel very excited. Though we come from different countries with different points of view about life, we have the same youthful enthusiasm and dedication and we do want to enhance the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between ASEAN countries.”

Apart from debates, DTU students also took part in various activities to learn more about the unique cultures of other ASEAN countries. Having scored 26.5 points in the 2014 Entrance exam to become a DTU valedictorian at her first choice of university, Vo Thi Hoai Tram was selected to attend the YMAC 2014. She said: “YMAC 2014 provided students of ASEAN member countries with a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas for a better ASEAN community. Having a chance to travel to Singapore and seeing a lot of new things there is a great motivation for me to study harder to make a contribution to our country. I feel more confident to have chosen DTU to pursue my studies because I have been provided with many good opportunities to achieve success.”

Attending YMAC is one of various exchange activities running up to ASEAN 2015 conducted by DTU in addition to its role as one of the founders of P2A (Passage to ASEAN).
