Mr. Thiet has lived in America, and then he returned home in 2013. He said that he used to study by himself till he graduated high school. As he had to work to support his seven children, he did not have time to go to university. In America, when all his children were mature and settled down, he started going to university.

Mr Thiet has got seven children, fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He said: “Living in America I learnt that we are never too old to learn so I continued to study and graduated from the California State University at the age of 70. Returning home, I want to study for a Master’s degree because I want to be a role model for my grandchildren, who are too lazy to study. Every day, besides spending time cycling, walking, and doing gym to keep fit I often visit my relatives and read books. I like philosophy but DTU has not offered this academic program.”

According to Mr. Dang Ngoc Trung, DTU Center for Enrollment and Media, Mr. Thiet had to take examination in Econometrics and Microeconomics. He did not have to take an English examination because he graduated from a university in America already.
