DTU Students Win First Prize in the 2014 Danang Skills Competition

The closing ceremony of the 2014 Danang Skills Competition 2014 took place at the Vocational School Number 5 of the Ministry of National Defense in Danang. DTU students won a First, two Thirds and three Consolation prizes in Graphic Design, Website Design and Culinary and Restaurant service.

More than 70 contestants from 13 organizations participated in the competition, 38% more than 2012. They competed in nine fields, including Restaurant Services, Cooking, Website Design, Software Solutions, IT, Network Administration, Graphic Design, Hairstyling, Electrical Installation and Automobile Technology.

Mr. Nguyen Van An, Deputy Director of the Danang Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said: "Over the years, the Skills Competition has become one of the most significant events in the process of improving vocational training and developing human resources in worldwide integration. In the 2014 Danang Skills Competition, the organizers highly commend the excellent performances of Nguyen Thi Kieu Tien of Duy Tan University, Nguyen Dat An of the Danang Vocational School and others. Many contestants competed in the Restaurant Service, Cooking and IT contests this year. This is good news as Danang is focusing on training a highly-qualified workforce for the economic development of the city and the Central Region."
 
At the event, the organizers awarded nine first prizes, eleven seconds, ten thirds and sixteen consolation prizes. In Graphic design, Nguyen Thi Kieu Tien won first prize and Nguyen Phan Anh earned third prize. Vo Linh San won third prize in Cooking. Nguyen Tran Hoang, Nguyen Anh Hoang and Le Thi Thu Hien won consolation prizes in Website Design, Restaurant Service and Cooking.   
 
Nguyen Thi Kieu Tien, of K17ACD in the DTU Architecture Faculty, said: “I am so happy to come first in the 2014 Danang Skills Competition. At first, I was a bit worried, as the time for the test is quite short. However, with the knowledge and skills acquired at DTU, I gradually gained confidence to do my best. I expect to take part in many more contests to improve my skills, learn more about the requirements of the local job market and be better oriented for my future career.”

The 2014 Skills Competition has become an important way of providing opportunities for students all over the city gain practical experience and exchange ideas. Local government agencies are focusing on the training of highly qualified staff which encourages students to do at their best to contribute to the ongoing development of Vietnam.
