Penn State University Training Course to Improve Teaching Quality

In its continuing efforts to implement innovative, high-quality teaching methods, the DTU Hospitality and Tourism Faculty held a training course in June based on curricula shared with Penn State, one of the five largest public universities in America. George Ruth and Jeff Heim, Penn State lecturers, shared their experiences with their DTU counterparts.

The visiting lecturers focused on five shared areas of study, which were: Restaurant Management, An Introduction to Food Production and Service, Hospitality Managerial Accounting, Hotel Management and Sales Analysis. Mr. Ruth and Mr. Heim also visited working areas of the DTU Hospitality Faculty, such as the kitchen, reception area and rooms. They made suggestions to the DTU lecturers on ways to improve professional training in Hospitality and Tourism at DTU.
 
DTU Hospitality and Tourism lecturers also visited the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort and the Laguna Lang Co Resort in Thua Thien – Hue province, where they learnt about how unique forms of architecture can harmoniously blend ancient and modern styles.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh, Dean of the DTU Hospitality and Tourism Faculty said:”We learnt a lot from this short training course and, hopefully, such courses will help the DTU Hospitality and Tourism Faculty to develop quickly.”

Hospitality and Tourism is one of the most prominent DTU faculties. The faculty provides significant numbers of high quality workers to local businesses annually.
