DTU - The New Champion of the 7th Huda Cup Football Tournament in Danang

On April 4th, the final match was played between Duy Tan University and the Danang Education University in the 7th Huda Cup Student Football Tournament at the Quan Khu V Stadium. The football tournament was sponsored by Danang University, the Danang Department of Culture and Sports, the Center of Sports and National Defense and the Huda Beer Company.

From March 25th to April 4th, the competition drew eight teams from the Danang College of Foreign Languages, the College of Medicine, the Danang University of Education, the College of Technology, the College of Information Technology, Duy Tan University, Duc Tri College and Phuong Dong College. They were divided into two groups competing together to select four teams to enter semi-final and final matches.

The DTU team wore orange uniforms. In the first round, DTU led group A by defeating teams from Phuong Dong College (3-0), the College of Technology (4-1) and Danang University of Education  (1-0). They faced the College of Information Technology in the semi-finals and disappoint their supporters. With their flexible way of playing and logical strategy, DTU defeated the College of Information Technology 6-3 and entered the finals.

In the first six minutes,  Mr. Tran Van Lam scored the first goal for DTU. Cheers and applause from the spectators inspired the DTU team to play harder with pass the ball exactly. DTU team was considered the stronger side, so the Danang University of Education had difficulty scoring. 

At fulltime the teams had drawn at 2-2. They then had to play penalties to find the winner. Eventually, DTU won the championship after scoring 5 goals above the other team. “After much practice, this is the result we expected. DTU played very hard as in the first half, too little advantage. However, we changed the strategy in the second half to keep the score even. I think DTU deserves the championship for their efforts”, said Mr. Le Duc Trong, Manager of the DTU Center of Physical Education and National Defense. 

The Huda Cup Students’ Football Tournament is held every year as a way of improving students' awareness of the necessity to do exercise. This was also an opportunity for local students to meet and get to know each other. The DTU team will represent Danang in the final round of Central Vietnam, to be held in Vinh in May.
