On August 16, the closing ceremony of “The XI Innovative Technology Competition and 2011 Innovations in Science and Technology of Danang” took place at the Hall of the Danang’s People Committee. DTU was honored to be one of four institutions to receive awards.

Over the last seven years, the contest has attracted hundreds of project proposals from regional companies. Mr. Tran Van Thiet, Vice-Chairman of the Danang Association of Science and Technology reported: “The competition is aimed to encourage local residents to do scientific research to find technical solutions that can be used in modern industrial production”. Thirty-four various projects in six fields were recognized as being regionally significant. In particular, seven projects received awards in the XI National Competition of Innovative Techniques and two won first prize in the 2011 Scientific Innovation and Technology Competition.

It was the first time that DTU had participated in this competition. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho, Dean of DTU’s Electronics and Telecommunications Department won third prize with his project “DLAB Controlling Tools”. In addition, he was a member of the group which conducted the “Power Distribution Software” project. Ms. Tran Hue Chi, Vice-Dean of the DTU Information Technology Department and her associate also won third prize for their project.
Such achievements have encouraged DTU faculty members and staff to be more motivated in conducting research for regional development. The DTU Board of Provosts constantly encourages the DTU faculty to do research to satisfy local demands.
