Two More Loa Thanh Prizes for DTU

Two DTU students’ projects “The Design of a Ha Thanh River Bridge”, by Le Van Tien, and “The Design of a Hong River Bridge”, by Nguyen Xuan Son, were both awarded third prizes in 2011 Loa Thanh Competition by the General Assembly of Vietnam Civil Engineering.

Many universities participated in the competition, including the Hanoi University of Architecture, the Hanoi University of Engineering, Phuong Dong University, Dong Do University, Yersin Dalat University, Van Lang University, Hue University, Danang Polytechnic University, HCM City Architecture University and Duy Tan University.

The judges discuss the projects

All projects underwent very close scrutiny by the judges. Every year, a panel specializing in the fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Irrigation, Transportation, and the Environment select the best projects, which are then submitted to the Architectural Association of Vietnam for final judgment.

“The judges were highly impressed by both of the DTU projects. The two third-place prizes demonstrated the high quality of teaching in the DTU Architecture and Civil Engineering Departments” said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lam, leader of the DTU team.

DTU has gained high achievements in the Loa Thanh Prize in recent years. In 2010, Dang Xuan Nam, a student of DTU Department of Architecture competed with students from many other prestigious national universities to win the first prize.
