DTU Continues in QS World University Rankings 2026 World Top 500

On June 19, 2025, the education organization Quacquarelli Symonds (QS, UK) officially released their QS World University Rankings 2026. In this latest edition, Duy Tan University (DTU) impresses by climbing 13 places to 482nd place globally, firmly maintaining its position among the top 500 universities worldwide.

 

The QS World University Rankings 2026 were compiled by QS based on evaluations and data analysis from over 1,500 universities across more than a hundred countries and territories. They analyzed 16.5 million scientific publications and collected feedback from more than 250 thousand lecturers and employers.

DTU ranked 482nd in the QS World University Rankings 2026

 

On this truly prestigious ranking, DTU has shown a steady advance through the years:

 

-    482nd of the world in 2026,
-    495th of the world in 2025,
-    514th of the world in 2024, and
-    in the 801-1000 band globally in 2023.

This consistent advance through the years affirms the effectiveness of DTU’s comprehensive development strategy across various metrics and fields. The university has firmly established its position with its outstanding educational quality:

 

-    first nonpublic university to earn national education accreditation in 2017,
-    one of the very few higher-education institutions in Vietnam to have earned American ABET accreditation for programs in engineering & technology, and
-    the first and only university in all of Vietnam (to date) to achieve UNWTO.TedQual certification (from the United Nations World Tourism Organization) for its tourism & hospitality programs.

 

Students at the university receive a solid foundation of specialized knowledge, comprehensive soft skills, direct training in artificial intelligence (AI) through a mandatory 3-credit course which improves their digital competency, and one more mandatory credit for entrepreneurship which boosts their startup abilities.

 

DTU stands out as a bright spot in scientific research, with a high number of international publications in ISI/SCOPUS-indexed journals. Many research initiatives have successfully received real-world application, creating groundbreaking value:

 

- 3D anatomical system simulating the Vietnamese human body, with thousands of anatomical details recreating the skeletal, muscular, vascular, nervous, circulatory, and digestive systems, as well as heart, liver, lungs, etc.
- improved thermoluminescence (TL) method combining experimental techniques and computer simulations to accurately date ancient artifacts (specifically those from Oc Eo culture),
- comprehensive simulation and interaction system for Smart Automotive Engineering training.
- research on Vietnamese ginseng and Cordyceps militaris (with the well-known Dr Trung’s wine, by Dr Nguyen Thanh Trung),
- advanced models in fracture mechanics and earthquake resistance (with two wins at the Asia–Pacific competition to design earthquake-resistant buildings, in 2014 and 2023),
- CPR skill training device, widely implemented in collaboration with the Wellbeing organization.
- collections of thousands of insect, reptile, and snake specimens from Vietnam, including more than 35 newly discovered species identified and named by DTU scientists,
- entertainment products, such as the game Hoi An Kien Su (also known as Hoi An VR, taking one over four hundred years back) and the historical documentary Vietnam Air War: The First Swallows (featuring 3D imaging technology),
- breakthrough research projects in computational mechanics, quantum microchips, 5G/6G technology, robotics, etc. in collaboration with the University of Chicago (US), Queen’s University Belfast (UK), Memorial University (Canada), JAIST (Japan), etc.
- hundreds of valuable studies published in Nature-index journals and in top-tier public-health journals like JAMA, The Lancet, and NEJM.

 

DTU’s international collaborations have expanded significantly, establishing strong connections with leading universities and major corporations in neighboring countries such as South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore, in addition to its traditional, mature partnerships established many years back with universities in the US, the UK, Canada, etc.:

 

- On-site Study-Abroad programs for American degree (4+0) with Troy University have been running for many years in IT, Business Administration, and Hospitality & Tourism,
- various Advanced Programs in a variety of disciplines in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University (since 2008), Pennsylvania State University (since 2010), California State University (since 2012), and Purdue University (since 2015),
- wide range of Overseas Study programs at universities in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.

 

DTU participates in and organizes numerous international conferences and student exchanges, connecting hundreds of scientists and lecturers and thousands of students from around the world each year. This has left a strong impression on the global academic community.

Ten Vietnamese universities in the QS World University Rankings 2026

 

The achievements that DTU has diligently pursued over the years are made concrete through the individual criteria of the QS World University Rankings 2026:

 

- Academic Reputation (30%): 13.7 points, ranked 701st globally;
- Citations per Faculty (20%): 76 points, ranked 172nd globally;
- Employer Reputation (15%): 27.7 points, ranked 500th globally;
- Faculty–Student Ratio (10%): 6.3 points, ranked 801st globally;
- International Research Network (5%): 87.7 points, ranked 206th globally;
- Employment Outcomes (5%): 6.4 points, ranked 801st globally;
- International Faculty Ratio (5%): 43.4 points, ranked 475th globally;
- International Student Ratio (5%): 2.1 points, ranked 801st globally;
- Sustainability (5%): 58.7 points, ranked 528th globally.

Earlier, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 announced on March 12, 2025, DTU was also noted for its strong advancement across the thirteen disciplines for which it is ranked, including eight subjects where it is placed in the global top 300:

- Architecture & Built environment: in 101-150 band globally,
- Computer science & Information systems: in 201-250 band globally,
- Environmental sciences: in 201-250 band globally,
- Physics & astronomy: in 201-250 band globally,
