On May 9, 2025, a cultural exchange event between DTU and Universitas Islam Indonesia gave space to a vibrant and meaningful academic and cultural exchange. With the participation of many students and lecturers from both universities, the event offered students a chance to meet and learn from each other, and promoted cultural and academic exchange between the two institutions.

DTU Vice Director Prof. Dr Lim Sang-taek speaking at the event
“I’ve had the opportunity to meet many Indonesian students studying at DTU,” DTU Vice Director Prof. Dr Lim Sang-taek said in his opening speech. “They are intelligent, polite, and endearing. I also feel very proud of our ever friendly and hardworking students here, who show remarkable progress after four years of study. Something I value highly about DTU is that the university always allows each student to grow in their own way. No need to be the best, here; what matters is that you don’t stop trying. It’s thanks to that mindset that our graduate employment rate is at 94%, a figure that even many major universities in South Korea have a hard time achieving. We welcome the lecturers and students from Universitas Islam Indonesia to DTU. We hope this exchange program will bring you a great many meaningful experiences and unforgettable memories, and that it’ll open up more opportunities for future sustainable collaborations.”

Students from both universities gave introductions and had discussions, and
they gave engaging presentations on key cultural features of their respective countries
During the exchange program, students from DTU and Universitas Islam Indonesia gave engaging presentations introducing key cultural features of their respective countries. Interesting Q&A sessions and distinctive insights into handmade crafts, traditional clothing, unique cuisine, and popular folk games added to the festive, warm, and colorful atmosphere.
Students from the two universities could also join group activities, engage in personal conversation with international peers, and learn about each other’s customs and lifestyles. They discussed current social issues in both countries, fostering an environment of practical and meaningful knowledge-sharing.

Cultural exchange programs bring together young people from across the ASEAN region
Besides giving the students from DTU and Universitas Islam Indonesia a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures, the cultural exchange program also brought together young people from across the ASEAN region.
“We’re truly impressed by DTU’s strong commitment to international integration and cultural exchange,” Dr Maulidia Mulyani from Universitas Islam Indonesia said. “The learning environment here is dynamic and open to students from all over the world.
“We came here as part of this cultural exchange program wishing to build a deeper understanding between Vietnamese and Indonesian culture. We believe cultural exchange is not just presenting our traditions, but also a chance to learn about others’ cultures and traditions. I believe the cultural differences between Vietnam and Indonesia will offer many exciting discoveries for students of both countries through this program.”
