On May 9, 2025, the DTU School of Technology & Engineering (SET), held the 5th Annual Student Scientific Research Conference. This is one of the significant and recurring events at the school, providing a valuable opportunity for students to present and discuss their scientific research results in the fields of Technology and Engineering.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Dac Binh, the Standing Vice Rector the DTU School of Technology & Engineering, stated: “The Student Scientific Research Conference is one of the important and annual activities of the School of Technology & Engineering, and this year marks its 5th edition. Besides introducing scientific research results, students will have the chance to exchange ideas, discuss, and learn from one another in a creative academic environment. Through this conference, students will receive valuable feedback, evaluations, and insights from experts and experienced faculty members in their respective research fields. This will help them refine their research topics, enhance the quality of their work, and lay a strong foundation for their future academic careers. Furthermore, the conference serves as an opportunity for students to nurture and develop their passion for science, opening new directions and potential career doors throughout their professional journey. The encouragement and positive feedback from the conference will be a powerful motivation for students to continue advancing their research and contributing knowledge to the community and society.”

This year’s conference featured 26 research topics, divided into three subcommittees:
- Subcommittee 1 - Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Automotive Engineering with 10 topics,
- Subcommittee 2 - Food Technology, Applied Arts with 8 topics, and
- Subcommittee 3 - Civil Engineering with 8 topics.
In addition, the conference also showcased 3 works by students from the Faculty of Architecture and Applied Arts and 4 scientific research products from students in the Electronics and Mechanical Engineering fields.

The Organizers award the Excellent Exhibition Product Prize to 4 products displayed at the Conference
At the closing of the conference, the Organizing Committee awarded 12 prizes to outstanding research topics from the subcommittees, specifically:
- Subcommittee 1:
o A First prize was awarded the "Recognition and control of robot hand gestures using YOLOV5" paper
o A Second prize went to the topic "System for diagnosing the level of damage to car body shells" paper
o A Third prize was awarded to the "Simulation and evaluation of parameters for the U660E automatic transmission" paper
o Two Consolation prizes went to the "Design and construction of a wireless power transmission system for electric cars" paper and "Design and manufacture of a system for controlling devices via mobile application" Paper
- Subcommittee 2:
o A First prize went to the "Research on the preservation ability of Quang Nam lotus seed cakes using convection drying" paper
o A Second prize was awarded to the topic the "Application of image processing in smart trash bins" paper
o A Third prize went to the topic "Research on the production process of fermented beverage from Robusta coffee husks using Kefir microorganism system" paper
o Consolation prize was awarded to the "Survey of factors affecting the production process of Kombucha tea from Muntingia calabura leaves" paper
- Subcommittee 3:
o A First prize went to the "The impact of crushed sand content on the strength of mortar using crushed sand as a substitute for fine aggregates in material mix design" paper
o A Second prize was awarded to the "Analysis of the collapse of the chain in reinforced concrete frames when a column is lost at various positions" paper
o A Third prize went to the "Application of MATLAB software to solve structural mechanics problems" paper
In addition to the awards in the research subcommittees, the Organizers presented the Excellent Exhibition Product Prize to 4 products, including:
- "Typography and Portraits: A New Perspective in Visual Arts,"
- "Wheelchair Integrated with Bed for Patients,"
- "Research on the Design of Labeling Systems and Automatic Filling and Packaging using MITSUBISHI FX2N 24MR PLC to Replace S7-1200," and
- "Biophilic Topography: A Study on the Design of Adaptive Residential Space Models to Enhance Human-Nature Biological Connections."
The 5th Annual Student Scientific Research Conference 2025 was a great success, laying a strong foundation for future scientific research events at the SET. It also encouraged students to continuously strive and contribute to the advancement of science and technology both domestically and internationally.
