The "Exploring the Japanese Anime Industry" Workshop

On December 10, 2024, DTU, in collaboration with NAZ Vietnam and Wacom Vietnam, held the workshop entitled: "Exploring the Japanese Anime Industry." The event attracted a large number of anime enthusiasts and opened up opportunities for networking, learning, and career guidance in the promising anime industry.

The workshop featured special guests such as:

 

• Ms. Ho Mai Ngoc - Executive Director, Wacom Vietnam
• Mr. Le Tan Hao Quy - Sales Manager, UCSS, Inc.
• Mr. Yasumasa Hibi - NAZ Vietnam Director 
• Mr. Bui Xuan Tai - 2D Animator, NAZ Vietnam 

 

With over 10 years of experience in animation production, along with many popular works in Asia and being ranked in the top 5 Anime on Netflix, NAZ Vietnam provided DTU students with valuable insights and in-depth knowledge about anime, as well as the history and development of the Japanese animation industry. In addition, DTU, in collaboration with Wacom Vietnam, offered students the opportunity to experience the latest digital drawing tablets firsthand.

At the workshop, MSc. Tran Thanh Binh, Head of the DTU Applied Arts Faculty, emphasized: "In today's digital age, alongside traditional hand-drawing skills, the support of digital technology and tools like Wacom drawing tablets have become indispensable assistants in the creative work of designers. This workshop is an opportunity for Wacom Vietnam, in collaboration with DTU, to provide students with hands-on experience with digital drawing tablets and training in drawing skills, helping them quickly adapt to the design trends of the digital era."

"Anime, motion graphics, and media design are becoming key trends of our time. The global anime market, which was valued at $31.2 billion in 2023, is forecast to exceed $60 billion by 2030, opening up new opportunities for designers to quickly access and integrate into this promising field."  MSc. Tran Thanh Binh commented on the future prospects of the anime industry.

 

As part of the workshop, DTU students also had the chance to showcase their skills by participating in the "Try Wacom - Challenge Creativity " drawing competition, creating "cool" anime pieces with digital drawing tablets. They designed personalized 2D characters using colors, distinctive features, body language, shapes, and sizes, reflecting their own unique styles.
