The White Coat Ceremony: Igniting the Responsibility and Aspirations of Medical Students

On the evening of November 23, 2024, DTU Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology held the White Coat Ceremony for K28 students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology. This event was not only a traditional symbolic ceremony but also carried profound significance, marking the milestone when future doctors begin their clinical practice at hospitals.

The White Coat Ceremony: Igniting the Responsibility and Aspirations of Medical Students


The white coats are not only the characteristic attire of the medical profession. They signify recipients’ responsibility for the health and lives of their patients, and the importance of adhering to the strict ethical code of medical conduct, regardless of all the challenges they may face.

Professor Dr Tran Huu Dang, DTU Vice-Provost, delivers a speech at the ceremony


Professor Dr. Tran Huu Dang delivered remarks to the students. He said: "The white coats represent not only professionalism but also serve as a symbol of trust, hope, and compassion. We expect that you will always uphold the spirit of dedication, medical ethics, and continuous learning to become dedicated competent doctors."

The White Coat Ceremony serves as a guiding light for K28 students majoring

in Odonto-Stomatology, helping them confidently navigate the challenging path ahead.

 

The White Coat Ceremony is not only a formal tradition but also an opportunity to inspire and ignite passion in each student. Nguyen Tu, a representative of K28 students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology, expressed his feelings while putting on his white coat. He said: "Putting on white coat marks the beginning of a challenging yet proud journey, symbolizing our passion and perseverance. We know there is still so much to learn, but with the guidance and support from our teachers, we are confident that we will overcome all obstacles and become good doctors.” 

 

One of the most sacred moments of the ceremony was the Oath-taking. Over 150 students stood and recited the oath of professionalism:

 

•    To continually learn and put additional effort into becoming competent doctors, 
•    To uphold medical ethics and a spirit of dedication,
•    To strive for the mission of saving lives and serving others.

 

The act of putting on white coats not only affirms their determination but also emphasizes the very responsibility that each medical student must take. The values conveyed during this ceremony will forever serve as a guiding light for K28 students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology, helping them confidently pursue their chosen profession.
