The Only Female Student to Win a Special prize at the 2024 National Mathematics Olympiad

She is the only female contestant among 11 to win a special prize, achieving first place in two subjects.
 
On April 13th, the closing ceremony of the 30th National Mathematics Olympiad for university and high school students took place in Da Nang.

This year's competition attracted the most participants in over 30 years
 
The competition was held online and supervised onsite for the high school level nationwide from March 15-17, and in-person for the university level from April 8-13 at DTU.
 
The university level saw participation from 95 universities and institutes, involving 699 students in 807 tests in Algebra and Calculus. The high school level had 46 schools with 400 students participating.
 
The organizing committee awarded 42 first prizes, 59 second, 88 third prizes, and 32 consolation prizes for the high school level.

11 contestants won special prizes
 
At the university level, the committee awarded 36 first, 72 second, and 93 third prizes in Algebra; and 37 first, 72 second, and 93 third prizes in Calculus.
 
Top-performing institutions included Hanoi University of Science and Technology; HCMC University of Technology - VNU-HCM; University of Science - VNU Hanoi, Foreign Trade University Branch 2; Military Medical Academy; and Hung
Vuong University in Phu Tho.
 
Among the contestants who won first prizes in subjects, 11 received special prizes for being the top scorer in a subject in each category or winning first place in both Algebra and Calculus or both. Tran Ngoc Quynh Giang, from Foreign Trade University Branch 2, was the only female contestant to achieve this, placing first in two subjects.

The National Mathematics Olympiad for university and high school students started in 1993, organized by the Vietnam Mathematical Society and the Ministry of Education and Training, along with other units.
