The opening ceremony for the 30th National Mathematical Olympiad for college and high school students took place at DTU on April 9th. The competition was organized by the Vietnam Mathematical Society in coordination with related units.

This year's Mathematical Olympiad for college and high school students saw the participation of 95 teams from academies and universities nationwide. There were 699 students with 809 registered participations. The contestants competed in two independent subjects: Algebra and Analysis. Each university or academy participated in one of two divisions: division A and B. Prizes were awarded for each subject. The competition lasted until April 13th at DTU.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Vu Hoang Linh, President of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, said that the National Mathematical Olympiad for college and high school students saw the participation of students from various training programs in different fields such as science, technology, engineering, economics, military... but all share a common passion for Mathematics. The total number of students participating was 699, with 809 registrations, an increase of over 10% compared to last year, setting a record in the competition's history of over 30 years.

"Mathematics is an indispensable foundation for many important fields in the 21st century such as artificial intelligence, automation and robotics technology, data analysis, chip design... The Vietnam Mathematical Society hopes that with the logical and coherent thinking skills acquired through studying mathematics, students will excel not only in mathematics but also in specialized subjects that apply mathematics, effectively and creatively applying mathematical knowledge in their future work to have a bright career and contribute to the development of the country.", Professor Vu Hoang Linh said.
