This year, the Forbes 30 Under 30 Vietnam list only counted 26 faces instead of the usual 30. The list, first published by Forbes magazine in 2015, honors youngsters who had a profound influence on their respective fields, including in business and entrepreneurship, science and education, social activities, arts, entertainment and sports.
This is the first time a DTU lecturer has been honored in the Forbes Vietnam Under 30 list. Dr. Thai Bao said: "It surprised me to be included in the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 Vietnam list and I was very happy to know that many people had voted for me. This is an important milestone in my life and I will try harder to prove myself worthy of the trust you placed in me.”
“I would waste half of my life if I didn’t do volunteer work.”
Huynh Le Thai Bao is a doctor working at the DTU School of Medicine and Pharmacy. He is also the founder and chairman of the Medical Volunteer Club, leader of the “Online Medicine Ecosystem” project and editorial secretary of the journal and website Vietnamese Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Thai Bao furthermore founded the "One Health" club, under the Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN), to implement the Public Health Week program.
In 2018, the Medical Volunteer Club was founded, with core activities in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands. It has attracted more than 300 members nationwide in two years. The DTU “Online Medicine Ecosystem” project (ykhoa.org) consists of 6 components: (1) application (app), (2) website, (3) YouTube channel, (4) Facebook, (5) online exchanges, and (6) real-life connections.
The DTU “Online Medicine Ecosystem” project is based on the integration of education, medicine, technology and volunteer work, using apps, the web, Facebook, YouTube, Zoom and Meet. A mobile phone app, which is the foundation of the system, delivers 1,200 online lessons, multiple-choice tests, webinars, CME syntheses and medical simulations. The ykhoa.org website contains 3,600 medical articles submitted by the group members themselves, their partners or by the community. The DTU “Online Medicine Ecosystem” project now has 26,000 members nationwide, including expert scientists, doctors and students. The “Online Medicine Ecosystem” project won:
- a First prize at the Youth Drivers for Change Awards 2021

Dr Thai Bao added: "I do want to study well to complete my doctorate of medicine and make a lot of contributions to the fields of internal medicine, endocrinology and diabetes. I will continue to develop a career in science and teaching, inspiring many medical and pharmaceutical students with a desire to study and live a dedicated life. I will try to find time for volunteering work. Hopefully, in the near future, the Medical Volunteer Club will develop a big ecosystem project attracting a lot of young doctors and medical students, contributing to improving Vietnamese people's health.”
