Vietnamese Universities listed in the QS Asian University Rankings 2021

 

This year, three additional university-level institutions were included, the Hanoi National University of Education, in the 551-600 range; the Industrial University and the University of Economics, both in the 601+range and located in Ho Chi Minh City. 

 

Some universities declined, but several improved their rankings. For example, Ton Duc Thang University is now at 163, up 44 from 207 in 2020; DTU leaves the 451-500 group and enters the 350-400 range, climbing almost 100 places since 2020; Hue University and the University of Danang are both in the 401–500 range. Hue University went up from the 451-500 range and the University of Danang maintained its position. However, Can Tho University is now in the 451-500 range, down from 2020. The Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), at the 158th place, down 15 places from 2020. The VNU-Hanoi, at the 160th, down 13 places from 2020. The Hanoi University of Science and Technology placed between 301st and 350th, down from 2020 (261st -270th).

 

The National University of Singapore (NUS) remains the leader in Asia, followed by Peking University and the University of Tokyo. In the 2021 rankings, China leads in Asia, with over 120 ranked universities. India, Japan, and South Korea are recognized as strong contenders.

 

The QS Asia University Rankings are based on 11 metrics with different weights, academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty/student ratio (10%), ratio of faculty holding PhD degrees (5%), publications per faculty (5%), citations per publication (10%), international research networks (10%), international faculty (2.5%), international students (2.5%), domestic exchange students (2.5%) and exchange students overseas (2.5%).
