Some Innovative and Highly Practical Startup projects

In October, the “Searching for Innovative and Creative startup talents in the Central Coast Region and Central Highlands Region” contest was held in Hue, sponsored by the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Development, the Thua Thien Hue Department of Science and Technology and Hue University. Three startup projects in Danang, including the “A remote controlled lifesaving buoy”, “A smart system for energy measurement and data collection” and “The mobile Homecares software” were highly praised.

“The remote controlled lifesaving buoy”, an innovative idea of DTU students

The "Remote controlled lifesaving buoy" was developed by a group of talented students from Duy Tan University.  The device is capable of assisting rescuers in saving drowning victims. It can drive itself around in the water by remote control. When a person is in danger in the water, the lifesaving buoy can be steered remotely in their direction, at a speed of 35 km an hour.

The “Smart system for energy measurement and data collection” was also created by other DTU students after three months of research. According to Doan Quang Hung, one of the researchers, the system was designed to measure the power consumption of household appliances, with a computer or smart-phone. Users are able to especially check and see how much electricity may have been stolen, which is considered the strength of the device.
Given this remarkable function, the system can be widely used in households, apartments and factories.

The mobile Homecares software, developed by the namesake company, enables patients to make appointments with physicians and check the best available hospitals, health clinics and treatment costs. Patient information is managed in an e-health record, so they can personally manage their health anytime and anywhere and then consult with specialists.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Nam, Director of the Thua Thien Hue Department of Science and Technology, highly praised the projects for their high practicability. He said: “Startup projects developed by Danang researchers are innovative and highly practical. However, they need to pay more attention to the features of the devices and also identify their target customers.”

Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy-Director of the Danang Department of Science and Technology, remarked that these innovative concepts will provide a foundation for researchers to identify the next steps to perfect many other different products in the future, and prepare them for manufacturing and the marketplace.
