DTU Students Contribute to Make a Brighter Danang

Recently, Danang people may have seen students on the weekends collecting garbage on the streets and on the beaches. There are twenty participants who call themselves the “Team for the Beauty of Danang”, including DTU students. The group was formed in April, when the Danang International Fireworks Competition took place.

While everyone else spends the weekends enjoying themselves after a hard week’s work, the team meets at the My Khe, Pham Van Dong and Nguyen Tat Thanh beaches to collect the garbage. Gradually, local residents have got used to seeing them every Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Duy Khoi, a student from the DTU Department of Business Administration said: “Most of our members are from Go Green, Zing Me Danang or AFCDN. All of us share the spirit of volunteering to make a better environment for the community. Thanks to that, we have overcome some physical and material problems we encountered at the beginning. Additionally, we have helped to improve peoples’ awareness about protecting the environment. We are very proud to be doing something good for society”.

Many more DTU students have now become interested in this worthwhile activity, thanks to the encouragement of Mr. Khoi. In addition to their studies, DTU students now have the have opportunity to take part in social activities. By participating in these activities, they will gain real-life experience in and the satisfaction of assisting in their local community.
