As Deputy Dean of the DTU SouthStar Management Institute (SMi), M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat has played a key role in DTU students’ remarkable ERPsim journey, from national and Asia-Pacific competitions to the global stage.
From Auditing to AI Research
After graduating in Auditing from the University of Economics, the University of Danang, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhat embarked on an academic career driven by his passion for teaching and research.
For him, education is not simply about imparting knowledge. More importantly, it is about helping learners recognize their potential, think independently, and take charge of their future development.
In 2018, he received a scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Finance and Investment at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom. Studying in an international environment broadened his professional perspective, exposed him to modern educational methods, and strengthened his commitment to a long-term career in higher education.
After returning to Vietnam in 2019, he officially joined the DTU community.
Starting as a lecturer in the DTU School of Business & Economics, he gradually established his academic and professional credentials. He currently serves as Deputy Dean of the DTU SouthStar Management Institute (SMi) and Director of the Business Intelligence Center (BIC).
To deepen his expertise, M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), a leading research university in the western United States.
Notably, his current research lies in a field quite different from his original background in economics, management, and auditing: computer science, with a focus on applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in management.
He has devoted considerable time to completing prerequisite coursework and broadening his knowledge to meet UNLV’s academic requirements.
M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat believes that the AI revolution is bringing far-reaching changes to every profession. Understanding and applying AI to reshape the knowledge base of economics and management is therefore essential.

Guiding students to ERPsim championships for two consecutive years
One of the most remarkable chapters in M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat’s career has been his work guiding DTU students through the 2025 and 2026 ERPsim competitions.
The ERPsim International Competition is often described as the “World Cup” of ERP. It gives talented students an ideal environment in which to test their business management skills on an enterprise resource planning platform, a technology increasingly used to optimize corporate management and operations. The competition attracts leading teams from countries such as the United States, China, Canada, Finland, the United Kingdom, Mexico, the Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, Slovenia, and Vietnam.
Under the guidance of M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat, DTU students have earned an impressive series of achievements:
- Champions of the 2026 ERPsim International Competition
- Champions of the 2026 ERPsim APAC Cup
- Champions of the 2025 ERPsim International Competition
- Champions of the 2025 ERPsim APAC Cup

“ERPsim is a highly competitive academic competition. To advance through each stage, students must prepare for months, continually strengthening their knowledge, analytical skills, and ability to make decisions under pressure. What makes me most proud is the spirit of DTU students. Even when competing against strong teams from China, the United States, and Europe, they remain confident, determined, and committed to pursuing their goals to the end,” M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat said.
Discussing his teaching philosophy, he explained: “The ultimate goal of higher education goes beyond helping students complete a course or earn good grades. More importantly, it is about fostering self-directed learning, nurturing a passion for discovery, and empowering students to master knowledge and help address the challenges facing businesses, communities, and society.”
For him, an educator’s success is measured not only by achievements in research and teaching but, more importantly, by students’ growth and maturity after they leave university.

Building the future through knowledge and technology
After many years at DTU, M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat continues to focus on developing the Business Intelligence Center alongside his teaching responsibilities. The center integrates advanced IT systems for business management into teaching and research.
“We regularly organize workshops and specialized seminars and collaborate with businesses to incorporate the latest technology trends into our teaching. BIC also organizes DTU’s annual ERPsim competition. This is more than an academic competition. It helps students develop strategic thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills, laying a strong foundation for their careers in the digital age,” M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat emphasized.
From DTU classrooms to international academic competitions, M.A. Nguyen Minh Nhat’s journey has been one of sowing the seeds of knowledge and ambition. He not only helps students master their fields and embrace emerging technologies but also inspires them to step confidently onto the global stage, realize their potential, create positive impact, and contribute to the future development of their communities.
