The Vietnamese Scientists among World’s Most Influential in 2026
The 2026 ranking of the world’s most influential scientists, compiled by Prof. John P. A. Ioannidis and colleagues at Stanford University (US) in collaboration with Elsevier, was officially released in early October 2026. The ranking is based on Elsevier’s Scopus database, which covers more than 7 million scientists worldwide. Scientists are classified into 20 major fields and 174 subfields. Only those in the top 2% in their fields or among the 100,000 researchers with the highest c-scores are included in the list. According to the announcement, Vietnam has 280 scientists from 70 educational and research institutions in the 2025 single-year ranking and 121 scientists from 40 educational institutions in the career-long ranking.
