DTU and Business
Many Job Opportunities Offered to DTU Graduates
Except for the lucky ones,
thousands of graduates still have great difficulty finding work in such a
competitive job market.
Despite
the economic crisis however, DTU has overcome many obstacles to reach new
heights of achievement in this issue. Currently, eighty-nine percent of
students are employed within six months of graduation, with one-hundred percent
of graduates from the CMU program finding jobs at local IT companies, which is
impressive. As the first and largest private university in Central Vietnam, DTU
faculty and staff are proud to educate so many qualified students at all levels
to meet local labor requirements.

It took
Mr. Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman and Provost, many years to establish Duy Tan University,
based on the models of other universities worldwide. Over the past seventeen
years, the DTU Board of Provosts has made remarkable efforts to update
curricula and improve teaching quality, in order to create the optimum
educational environment for their students.
These
accomplishments of the entire DTU faculty and staff have been highly
appreciated by the community. In addition to the five campuses around Danang,
DTU has recently been granted ninety hectares in Hoa Vang Province to construct
a new building there. Meanwhile, DTU has invested thousands of dollars to
establish new, well-equipped laboratories and libraries. In 2007, DTU converted
to a “credit-based system” giving more opportunity for students to excel. The
year after that, DTU began expanding relationships partnerships with several
foreign universities.
Standing on “the shoulders of giants” is not as difficult as gaining an outstanding reputation for DTU. In 2008, DTU officially became a partner of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), one of the four leading IT institutions in America. Four years later, one-hundred percent of the first CMU graduates found jobs immediately. So now, students enrolling in the advanced programs of PSU (Pennsylvania State University) and CSU (California State University) are quickly targeted by local companies.

Every
year, hundreds of DTU faculties are sent overseas for training. Conversely,
lecturers from universities worldwide are invited to teach DTU students in
Danang. As the quality of education has steadily improved, now Appalachian
State University, Lorain Country Community College, in Ohio, USA, Coventry
University in England, Auston Institute in Singapore have all signed approvals
for DTU students to complete their bachelor degrees abroad.
Besides
their basic education, DTU students are also taught how to exercise their soft
skills, and finished well in many national competitions. Students include Ba
Thanh Huy, who first prize in the Mathematics Olympiad, Dang Xuan Nam, who won
the 2010 Loa Thanh Prize, Thai Bao Long, with first prize in the 2011 International
Short Film Competition, Nguyen Tran My Linh, who came first in the 2011 Miss
U-League Beauty Contest, Nguyen Thi Xuan Trang, winner of 2012 Miss Danang
Pageant, Pham Thi Thuy My, runner up in the 2012 Miss Star Contest, and so
on.
Over the
past seventeen years, DTU has gained a reputation as a university with a
highly-qualified faculty and talented students. More than three-hundred
national and international companies, such as Enclave, Lac Viet, Work West, the
DTT Group, the Nam Hai Resort, the InterContinental Group, Gameloft and so on
have established relationships with DTU, with the objective of employing DTU
students, thanks to the foresight of the DTU Board of Provosts, faculty and
staff.
Since 1999, the DTU Job Fair has connected graduates with potential employers. Recently, twenty-seven banks and other companies participated in the Job Fair held on June 2nd. Four thousand students applied for two-thousand, seven-hundred jobs. Mr. Hoang Trung Dung, the Hanoi Maritime Bank HR Manager said: “Talented students are all welcome at our bank and we are here today looking for highly-qualified new staff. Currently, we have six-thousand employees, which is estimated to increase to eleven-thousand by 2014. I hope to see many DTU students submitting their CVs to us”.

DTU has expanded partnerships with local companies to help DTU students and graduates find jobs or internships to gain practical experience. At the graduation ceremony on June 3rd, Mr. Vuong Bao Long, the LogiGear Vietnam HR Manager, announced his intention of hiring sixteen new CMU graduates to work for LogiGear. Mr. Michael Hackett, Vice-Chairman of Logigear said: “I am really impressed by the questions that students asked me. I think they have made wise decisions to enroll in a university that has become so well-known for the quality of its educational environment and teaching. As a result, more and better job opportunities will be available for DTU graduates”.
