A new opportunity for international engagement has opened up for students of Duy Tan University (DTU), as 26 K31 students majoring in Tourism and Aviation Service Management at the Hospitality & Tourism Institute (HTi) officially departed for Thailand on August 3, 2026. They will participate in an exchange semester at Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Phuket Campus. The program offers DTU students an opportunity to study in an international environment while strengthening their professional competence and career skills in the aviation and service industries.

Management are ready for their exchange semester in Thailand

Taking place in Semester I of the 2026 - 2027 academic year, the exchange semester in Thailand is one of the notable international cooperation initiatives undertaken by DTU’s Hospitality & Tourism Institute. It provides students with access to a modern curriculum, experience in a multicultural learning environment, and a solid foundation for their future careers in aviation services. This also marks the first time that DTU and Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, have jointly organized an exchange semester for students majoring in Tourism and Aviation Service Management.

The participating students will study at Prince of Songkla University from August 1st to December 31st, 2026, and complete five specialized courses:

-    Preparation for International Career in Aviation;
-    English for the Airline Business;
-    Food and Beverage Service;
-    Airport Passenger and Cargo Service Operations; and
-    Inflight Service Management.

The exchange semester has been designed with a practice-oriented approach, equipping DTU students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in aviation and service operations. The curriculum covers workplace culture in the aviation industry, aviation English, communication skills, résumé preparation, job interview techniques, professional conduct, and professional image. Students will also study guest reception and food and beverage service procedures, airline check-in procedures, airport passenger and baggage services, the handling of unexpected situations, inflight service procedures, and the identification and use of aviation safety equipment.

Under the academic plan agreed upon by the two universities, the courses completed at Prince of Songkla University will be mapped against DTU’s curriculum for credit transfer in accordance with applicable regulations. These courses are equivalent to several modules in DTU’s Tourism and Aviation Service Management curriculum, including Makeup Artistry, Catwalk Techniques, English for Ground Services, English for Flight Attendants, Food and Beverage Service Operations, Ground Service Operations, and Cabin Crew Services.

In addition to acquiring professional knowledge, the 26 DTU students will have the opportunity to experience an international learning environment, interact with students from different countries, and develop their adaptability, global mindset, and ability to work effectively in multicultural settings. These are essential qualities that will help students enhance their competitiveness and prepare to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the aviation and service industries, both regionally and globally.

As one of the 26 students participating in the exchange semester in Thailand, Le Xuan Binh expressed her excitement about the opportunity to study in an international environment: “I am very much looking forward to studying in Thailand because this is not only an opportunity for me to broaden my professional knowledge and skills, but also a source of motivation to continue learning and improving myself. Thailand has a highly developed tourism industry, so I believe the program will provide me with valuable practical experience and help me gain a deeper understanding of how the service and aviation industries operate. Studying and living in an international environment will also broaden my perspective, expose me to different cultures, improve my confidence in communication, and enable me to seize more opportunities for personal and professional development in the future.”

The participation of DTU students in the exchange semester at Prince of Songkla University further affirms the university’s commitment to the internationalization of education. Through its cooperation network with many prestigious universities around the world, DTU continues to create opportunities for students to study, gain experience, and develop in international environments, thereby contributing to the training of high-quality human resources capable of meeting the demands of the global labor market.
