On July 4, 2026, the 2026 Korean Cultural Festival was held on the DTU campus. Jointly organized by DTU’s Faculty of Korean Language under the School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences (LHSS) and the Korea Foundation (KF), the event provided students with a vibrant opportunity to experience Korean culture. The festival also marked the fifth anniversary of the Faculty of Korean Language, celebrating its development and growing reputation for high-quality Korean-language education at DTU.

Guests included Mr. Woo Hyong Min, Chief Representative of the Korea Foundation in Vietnam; Dr. Hoang Thi Huong, Rector of LHSS; leaders of DTU faculties and administrative units; lecturers; and a large number of students.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Woo Hyong Min praised DTU’s efforts to advance Korean-language education and affirmed that the Korea Foundation would continue supporting the university’s cultural and educational exchange activities. “The Korea Foundation has always worked to introduce Korea and Korean culture to people around the world while building bridges of friendship among nations. We are delighted to partner with DTU, one of the most prestigious private universities in Central Vietnam.

“As artificial intelligence continues to develop rapidly; many language students are understandably concerned about their future career opportunities. However, although AI can assist with routine translation tasks, it cannot replace the ability to understand cultures, connect people, and convey human emotions.

“Cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea continues to grow. More than 10,000 Korean businesses are currently investing and operating in Vietnam, creating consistently strong demand for skilled professionals. I therefore encourage you to view AI as a tool that supports your learning and to combine your Korean-language skills with expertise in other fields to build a competitive advantage.

“I hope today’s festival will provide you with meaningful experiences, deepen your appreciation of Korean culture, and give you the confidence to become bridges connecting our two countries.”

In her opening remarks, Dr. Hoang Thi Huong said: “The fifth anniversary of the Faculty of Korean Language is a proud milestone that recognizes the tireless efforts of its faculty members and students to build and develop a respected center for Korean-language education in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.

“Today’s achievements are the result not only of the dedication of DTU and the Faculty of Korean Language but also of the invaluable support of the Korea Foundation and our partners. Educational cooperation and cultural exchange activities have helped build a lasting bridge between Vietnam and South Korea while creating numerous learning and development opportunities for students.

“The Korean Cultural Festival reflects our educational approach of combining language learning with practical cultural experiences. I hope you will actively participate in the activities and take every opportunity to broaden your knowledge and develop your skills, because language is the key that opens the door to the world.

“What you learn in the classroom provides a strong foundation, while the experiences you gain today will serve as valuable preparation for establishing yourselves as global citizens and future cultural ambassadors who use knowledge to overcome barriers and create new value for society.”

On this occasion, LHSS representatives presented flowers and a commemorative gift to Mr. Woo Hyong Min in appreciation of the Korea Foundation’s continued support for educational cooperation and cultural exchange activities. The Faculty of Korean Language also presented commemorative gifts to participating organizations as a sincere expression of gratitude for their support and partnership over the years.

Following the formal ceremony, the DTU campus came alive with a wide range of activities showcasing the distinctive culture of South Korea. Students enthusiastically participated in K-Culture games and quizzes on Korean history, cinema, K-pop, and Vietnam–South Korea cooperation, with exciting prizes awarded to the winners.

The hanbok and taekwondo experience areas were equally lively, attracting large numbers of students who posed for photographs and captured memorable moments. These activities gave students an opportunity to discover the beauty of traditional Korean clothing, the spirit of Korean martial arts, and other distinctive aspects of Korean culture.

A highlight of the festival was the Korean Cuisine Competition, in which teams skillfully prepared and presented traditional dishes such as tteok and kimbap, along with a variety of other Korean specialties. In addition to demonstrating creativity and teamwork, the contestants created an exciting and competitive atmosphere that attracted enthusiastic support from lecturers and students.

Concluding a day filled with color, excitement, and laughter, the 2026 Korean Cultural Festival not only provided memorable cultural experiences but also strengthened academic exchanges, expanded international connections, and reaffirmed DTU’s commitment to integrating education with global engagement. The event also inspired students to confidently develop their abilities and prepare to become global citizens.
