Nguyen Ba Quang Huy, a distinguished graduate of DTU, who was once an outstanding student of class K24 in Tourism & Hospitality Management, joined the SkyTeam of Emirates Airlines, one of the world’s leading airlines.
With relentless effort and a burning passion for his work, Quang Huy has created his own impressive and colorful career path in aviation.
A strong foundation before taking off
Before landing his dream career at Emirates Airlines, Quang Huy meticulously prepared a well-rounded toolkit of knowledge, hard skills, and soft skills.

From the beginning, Quang Huy has always been steadfast in his academic pursuits. After graduating high school, he chose DTU to realize his university dream. “When it comes to tourism training in Danang or more broadly in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, everyone immediately thinks of DTU,” he explains. “Graduates all advise you to choose DTU if you want to study tourism. After I thoroughly researched the university, I enrolled in Tourism & Hospitality Management at the DTU Hospitality & Tourism Institute or HTi, with full support from my family. This marked the beginning of a smooth academic and career journey - something all young people dream of.”
Throughout his studies, Quang Huy gained lots of knowledge, practical experience, and skills in various roles, such as kitchen, hotel room, and security. Of note, he proactively attended workshops to acquire extra knowledge, as well as conferences and seminars related to his field. DTU offers a program called “Passage to ASEAN” (P2A), which is very meaningful as it provides students from different ASEAN countries with opportunities to exchange and learn about each other’s cultures and lives. This program is what allowed Quang Huy to improve essential skills, enhance his English proficiency, gain multicultural awareness, and undergo significant personal growth.
Confidently reaching for the skies with a leading global airline
There are things Quang Huy always wondered about before attending job interviews: “Between two students with the same degree, what makes one stand out to recruiters? It’s that one has additional skills, such as communication, singing, dancing, sports, or even hosting events. These strengths become highlights that strongly impress recruiters.”
This is why Quang Huy decided to take an event-hosting course, and he was fortunate that his university lecturers trusted him to host many events at the university, such as the Career Journey talk shows and seminars on tourism & hospitality. Thanks to his experience hosting such events, Quang Huy outstandingly became host collaborator at Vietnam Television channel VTV8 when he was ending his third year of university.
“Whenever an opportunity arises to pursue your dream, seize it immediately and treat it as real-world experience,” is how Quang Huy sees things. “It’s like a business equation: the capital you invest is passion and perseverance combined with all your preparation, and the revenue and the profit isn’t just money but also spiritual joy, resilience, and the invaluable new experience you gain.”
Studying, participating in extracurricular activities, student jobs have all provided Quang Huy with precious experience and created a solid foundation for him to take off and soar to new heights, and reach far beyond his initial horizons.
Proving his capabilities to join the Emirates Airlines crew
After he completed his graduation thesis and earned his Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude, Quang Huy successfully applied to Bamboo Airways and officially became a flight attendant for them. After he had been working there for two years with notable success, he sought new challenges at VietJet Air. Recently, Quang Huy relocated to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to officially join the Emirates Airlines crew, serving international routes to Australia, the UK, and many other countries worldwide.

About the key to his success in becoming a flight attendant at a prestigious global airline like Emirates Airlines, Quang Huy explains he always prepares thoroughly, from knowledge to skills; he is persistent and perseveres to confidently seize any opportunity that comes his way. During job interviews, he always demonstrated his high level of preparedness and his determination to contribute, scoring points through his strengths and the impressions he leaves personally. Besides academic qualifications, a candidate’s attitude plays a crucial role in winning over international recruiters.
As the only candidate from Vietnam to successfully pass the training program and join the Emirates Airlines crew during this recruitment round, Quang Huy has proven his exceptional capabilities and dedication. For him, becoming a flight attendant is not the end of his journey; it is when he starts working and making new contributions that the journey really begins. “Every industry has its competition and challenges,” he explains. “Aviation also puts high pressure on people, as crew members are constantly away from family and must travel frequently, which requires both physical and mental strength. That’s why, every day, you must continue improving your knowledge, stay updated, learn new things, and not forget self-care and development.”
On his plans for the future, Quang Huy says, “The journey ahead is still long, and I hope to continue my career as a flight attendant, conquering more routes and visiting many more countries. I don’t chase success; I chase excellence, and when you do so, success will find you.” He has been writing colorful pages in his career story, which is also an inspiring tale of pursuing the dream of aviation for those passionate about the field. His journey from DTU to the Emirates Airlines crew is a living testament that with enough effort and perseverance, the sky is no longer the limit.
