DTU Launches "DTU Startup 2024" competition and "Early Startups: Challenges or Opportunities?" Talkshow

On March 19th, DTU launched the "DTU Startup 2024" competition and the "Early Entrepreneurship: Challenge or Opportunity?" talkshow. Attendees included Hero of Labor, Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman; Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, DTU Vice-Provost; and a large number of guests, lecturers and students.

Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, DTU Vice-Provost, said: "In addition to focusing on the training and scientific research activities, DTU is implementing various activities to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills for entrepreneurship. With the motto 'We Do Everything for Student Rights and Future Careers” to meet social and international demands, DTU regularly collaborates with local businesses to hold various activities such as job fairs, career orientation sessions, and interviews to create employment opportunities for students. DTU commits to providing facilities, Lab rooms, spaces for innovation and creativity; high-qualified human resources and finance to develop potential projects and so on to support students to start their own businesses."
 
The "DTU Startup 2024" competition takes place from March 9th to May 25th, with three rounds: the Audition round, the Activation round, and the Destination round (Finals). The startup projects in the "DTU Startup 2024" competition aim to address community and societal issues, contributing to the economic recovery after the pandemic. The competition covers various fields:
 
- Technology, product manufacturing;
- Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries;
- Education, technology, tourism, services, finance;
- Healthcare, beauty tech;
- Social impact entrepreneurship.

The "Early Entrepreneurship: Challenge or Opportunity?" talkshow provides
a wealth of valuable information on the topic of entrepreneurship among students
 
Competition entries are evaluated based on criteria such as: the necessity of the product or service for the market; assessment of the target audience and customer segments for the product; the community issue that the product helps to solve; feasibility in production and business operations; the uniqueness, creativity, and distinctive value of the product or service compared to existing market products; and the potential outcomes of the project in terms of revenue, profit expectations, growth potential, etc.
 
The prize includes:
 
- A First Prize: 15,000,000 VND + Certificate of Merit 
- A Second Prize: 10,000,000 VND + Certificate of Merit 
- A Third Prize: 5,000,000 VND + Certificate of Merit 
- Two Consolation Prizes: 2,000,000 VND/each + Certificate of Merit 
 
As part of the program, the "Early Entrepreneurship: Challenge or Opportunity?" talk show featured three speakers: Mr. Nguyen Quang Viet, Founder & CEO of Vilas Group; Mr. Diep Dai Vo, General Director of Vodatour Da Nang, and Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Huyen,  Senior Director of Business Development at Manulife Vietnam. They provided valuable information on the topic of student entrepreneurship.
 
Additionally, the speakers, who have extensive experience in early entrepreneurship, offered useful advice attracting attention from the audience, including: selecting the right time to start a business, choosing a competent mentor, finding suitable partners, having an effective communication strategy for the project, maintaining passion, and facing challenges during the entrepreneurship journey.
