On September 1, Research.com announced its 2023 rankings of scientists worldwide, by the number of papers published and citations, including fourteen from Vietnam compared with eleven last year. They specialized in: Engineering and Technology; Environmental Science; Computer Science; Materials Science; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Public Health; and Social Sciences.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc, from Vietnam National University, Hanoi specialized in Engineering and Technology; Nguyen Van Hieu. from Phenikaa College, in Materials Science; Professor Pham Hung Viet and Associate Professor Tu Binh Minh from the VNU-Hanoi and Tran Nguyen Hai from DTU, in Environmental Sciences; and Dr. Hoang Nhat Duc, from DTU and Associate Professor Le Hoang Son from the VNU-Hanoi, in Computer Science.

This rankings were based on a detailed evaluation of 166,880 profiles on Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Graph, divided into 24 disciplines, including: Animal Science and Veterinary; Biology and Biochemistry; Business and Management; Chemistry; Computer Science; Earth Science; Ecology and Evolution; Economics and Finance; Electronics and Electrical Engineering; Engineering and Technology; Environmental Sciences; Genetics and Molecular Biology; Immunology; Law and Political Science; Mathematics; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Medicine; Microbiology and Neuroscience.

VNU was the leading institution in Vietnam, with four scientists ranked worldwide in 3 fields: Engineering and Technology; Environmental Sciences; and Computer Science.
The ranking method applied by Research.com is based on the D-index (Discipline H-index) and the number of articles by field for scientists listed in the IEEE, ACL, Springer, AAAI, USENIX, Elsevier, ACM and LIPIcs database systems.
