The sixth DTU Summer Research School took place at DTU from July 7 to 9, attended by thirty graduate students from universities in Hanoi, Quy Nhon, Hue, HCMC and Danang. DTU organizes this event annually to keep graduate students updated while continuing their research in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, and Automation. Since inception, the event has attracted 130 participants and, according to the organizing committee, more than 80% of them have obtained full scholarships for PhD or Master’s courses in the UK, the US, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

“I’ve have been part of the DTU Summer Research School since 2015, I’m really happy to see the success of the many graduate students who benefit from attending this event and realize their ambitions,” said Associate Professor Duong Quang Trung, from Queen’s University in Belfast. “I hope that you will now have more choice in selecting the appropriate and ideal study environment in well-developed countries after obtaining information on foreign PhD scholarships and the necessary procedures, stories of successful applicants, how to locate and work with research advisors, and gain more practical information in general.”
The sixth DTU Summer Research School continues to cover key topics presented by lecturers from UK universities and their predecessors, who were awarded scholarships for their research, including: Associate Professor Trung and Dr. Nguyen Dinh Long ,from Queen’s University in Belfast (UK), and Associate Professor Hoang Trang, Head of the HCMC University of Technology Graduate School.

The Summer School focused on:
- Ten full scholarships for Master of Research and PhDs in 2024 and 2025
- Advanced research skills: effective document look-up and citing; plagiarism and how to avoid it; scientific writing style; conference presentation skills; how to write specialized article reviews; how to publish ISI-standard papers; structure of ISI-standard papers; use software for research and calculation; and how to reply to referees
- How to apply for research scholarships at universities in Europe, the Americas, Australia, and other developed countries; overseas research scholarships; necessary procedures; scholarship application; and successful scholarship application experiences
- Research student life, working with research advisors and career options
The information on academics and the skills necessary for to conduct research, with detailed stories from the speakers, oriented the graduate students and broadened their special knowledge of PhD programs at advanced educational institutions around the world.
