Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, a lecturer at the DTU Faculty of Architecture & Applied Arts, has achieved many accomplishments during his career as a lecturer and a painter.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong receives the A Fine Arts prize
His latest painting, entitled “Message,” was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, everyone bought and sold goods by messaging each other online, which gradually became habitual, especially in the younger generation. His work is highly regarded, and he received an A prize at the 2022 Literature & Art awards.
“Messages” - the concept of Nguyen Thanh Phuong’s painting
The idea of the “Message” picture originated when COVID-19 first broke out and most essential services, such as office work, buying goods and booking tickets were conducted by online messaging. Phuong used acrylic paint to create contrasting colors. The harmonious combination of flexible and gentle lines on a green background made the painting even more attractive.
“Gradually, women have dared to escape prejudices to define themselves, and are now becoming better educated, stronger, more decisive and independent, combining beauty, personality and knowledge. Women now know how to stay healthy, how to dress and add matching accessories to distinguish themselves. Technology has become an indispensable part of their daily lives and the use of smartphones, for example, enables them to do jobs better, connect with friends and confidently create their own dynamic lifestyles. In my opinion, this has made all our lives more beautiful and happier, so I chose to depict the image of modern women in my painting. I think my audience will have different feelings, depending on their own lives and wishes.,” said Phuong
