English is now used worldwide, and foreigners need to practice and refine their English language skills continuously. Consequently, DTU has just signed a collaboration agreement with the British Council to provide access to their online English-language review and test platform. When successfully completed, the British Council will award “EnglishScore” certificates, which are recognized internationally. The council’s Regional Director for Asia, Ms. Carole Oh, attended the signing with the Head of Corporate Client Development, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hue.

“As we well know by now, Covid-19 forced most educational institutions to replace traditional teaching methods with online learning platforms,” said DTU Vice-Provost Dr. Vo Thanh Hai. “As a result, the application of technology to teaching is no longer a novelty to either lecturers or students. Meanwhile, to continue studying English and taking exams without interruption, the British Council had already introduced the “EnglishScore” application in 2019, to award international certificates of competence. DTU understood the potential benefits it would bring and decided to deploy the application, so that students can be awarded certificates, meet graduation requirements and improve potential job opportunities.”
The partners agreed to:
- Work together to issue the globally recognized British Council EnglishScore certificates
- Work to improve DTU students’ English proficiency and employability
- The British Council will accept DTU as an approved partner, allowed the university to provide English-language tests and award co-branded certificates to its student body.

“Vietnam is a developing country, and the quality of its personnel is improving daily, providing new employment opportunities worldwide,” said Ms. Oh, referring to the agreement. “Our program is essential for those who plan to enter the international job market. We implemented EnglishScore for use during pandemics, take exams online and meet company requirements, all at reasonable cost. We are already partnering with 20 other Vietnamese universities and are honored to also begin working with DTU today.”
Ms. Hue then briefly reviewed the “EnglishScore” application, students asked questions and were able to use the system and take some trial tests. The collaboration will help students to improve their vocabulary, practice important English-language skills, and, most important of all, find excellent jobs on graduation.
