The Opening of the DTU Machine Engineering Faculty

On March 17, DTU held the grand opening ceremony of the new Faculty of Machine Engineering, which is part of the School of Engineering.

DTU Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao and Dr. Vu Duong, Dean of the Faculty of Machine Engineering 
 
Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy-Head of Human Resources announced the establishment of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Vu Duong was appointed Acting-Dean. Other attendees included Tran Huu Hoang, Director of the Quang Nam Vocational Training & Transport Center; Mr. Do Van Thanh, Director of the Tam Hoa Company, Mr. Luu Nghia Duc, Technical Director of TOTAL Vietnam; Mr. Pham Quoc Viet, Supervisor of the A32 Plant; Dr. Nguyen Minh Tien, from the Danang College of Technical Education; Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost; and Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Minh, DTU Vice-Provost.

Dr. Vu Duong said: “The Faculty of Machine Engineering has been split off from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and comprises the School of Mechatronics and Automotive Engineering Technology, with many existing students. By 2022-2024, the Faculty is expected to announce several more majors, such as Machine Engineering Technology, Machine Manufacturing and Marine Engineering. The Faculty will continue to enhance the quality of its education and curricula, developing its team and strengthening collaborations with businesses to develop into a comprehensive, integrated body which offers highly effective training.” 
 
Mr. Luu Nghia Duc, Technical Director of TOTAL Vietnam, said: “Collaborations between TOTAL Vietnam and technical universities is one of our current strategies. Together we will implement career orientation visits to Total plants specializing in fluid transfer systems and organize more student activities in the near future.”
 
The grand opening ceremony marked a promising start, and DTU hopes to graduate many dynamic and qualified engineers into the workplace very soon.
