With a long tradition of online lecturing thanks to experience in distance learning, DTU has designed and developed a comprehensive online admissions system and will award many scholarship vouchers, worth a total of 10 billion dong in the 2020 enrollment season to encourage an aspiration for learning among applicants.
The WHO recently warned that the new coronavirus may never go away and people around the world will have to learn to live with it, even if we can find a vaccine by the end of the year. In order to avoid an interruption in training and education, it is necessary for enrollees to choose a school which is well-prepared to organize online classes and exams during the pandemic.

Experience in distance and e-learning
The MOET’s report at the national conference on 17 April showed that 110 out of 240 higher education institutions in Vietnam had deployed online training. However, only four universities witnessed a high level of consensus among lecturers for the e-learning method: Hanoi Open University; Ho Chi Minh City Open University; FPT’s FUNiX, and Duy Tan University.
These universities have much experience in distance and e-learning as they focused on this training method early. They developed the LMS and LCMS as well as provided full learning content, managed the progress of learners, and developed methods to objectively examine and evaluate learning results by taking advantage of their IT infrastructure.

Lecturer and students in an online class
DTU deployed online lecturing in 2008 with eUniversity programs. In particular, the university prepared:
- an AMS education management system and the myDTU portal,
- the Sakai e-learning platform (open source), customized and highly tuned to the university’s training requirements
- a previously existing data center worth over three million US dollars,
- experienced lecturers who are always ready to teach any type of students online;
- previously existing electronic study materials and question pools for hundreds of subject matters, originally localized from standard question pools from around the world.
During the first wave of Covid-19 in late February, DTU invested in 150 classrooms with wide-angle cameras, AV hi-fi sound systems, and other devices for online lecturing like projectors and Wacoms in addition to the purchase of a Zoom Meetings license for a thousand lecturers to ensure the quality of online learning and teaching. Thanks to this investment, DTU’s most recent graduates could finish on schedule on June 6th 2020.
Online admissions portal
The new wave of community transmission of the novel coronavirus infections worries 12th-graders across the country, especially in localities hit by the pandemic. To ensure safety for all students, DTU has developed an online college admissions system at https://nhaphoc.duytan.edu.vn/ for successful applicants based on transcript and on the results of the 2020 National HSGE. By taking advantage of IT, things are available in a few clicks and the process from applicant to the student is not an exception for the same. Applicants can do their registration and sign in to the online admissions portal for all majors at DTU:
- 56 normal majors,
- 13 majors of Advanced and international programs,
- 10 majors of Talent programs,
- 3 majors of On-Site Study-Abroad programs, and
- the 2+2, 1+1+2, 3+1 programs, in collaboration with the US, Canada and the UK.
