DTU attracts more and more Electrical Engineering applicants every year by focusing on international partnerships, the quality of education and by investing in state-of-the-art research laboratories and equipment. In this environment, Electrical Engineering students have developed some impressive “Made in Duy Tan” products. Let’s take a look at the DTU facilities and find out why Electrical Engineering researchers love working here all day.
International collaboration and intensive training enhance the quality of education
The Industrial Revolution 4.0 is increasing the demand for highly-qualified technicians, particularly in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Four years ago, DTU first partnered with Purdue University to develop advanced programs in Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics, sharing curricula with Purdue lecturers and graduating with certificates in order to meet the rapidly increasing international demand for specialists. This partnership laid the groundwork for DTU to apply for ABET accreditation. An evaluation team visited DTU in October 2019 in preparation.
Professor Niaz Latif, Dean of Industrial Technology at Purdue University and Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost, sign an agreement to share Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics curricula.

State-of-the-art facilities
DTU is equipped to headquarter a variety of exciting new technologies for both in-house and field studies, with 3 mechanics workshops and 8 practice labs:
- Electronics Lab
- Logic Lab
- Electrical Machinery Lab
- The Advanced Telecommunications Lab
- Microprocessors
- Biomedical Electronics Lab
- Robotics Lab
- Electronic circuit Lab
and two lecturing and research centers, the Center for Electrical Engineering (CEE) and the Center for Information Technology (CIT).
DTU offers the following majors in Electrical Engineering:
- Mechatronics, (PNU standard)
- Electrical Engineering (PNU standard),
- Embedded Systems

Really valuable and practical products
Equipped with the latest machinery and design facilities, Electrical Engineering students have created many products even before graduation, several of which have already been put to practical use and received very positive feedback.
The first ten battery-powered wheelchairs, donated to the disabled and disadvantaged
A multi-lingual, four-wheeled robot waitress that intelligently communicates with customers
A robot that directs pedestrians crossing the street
Robotic arms for Tran Dang Khoa, born without a left arm and Phan Trong Hieu, who lost both hands from an unexploded bomb
Free public contraceptive dispensers to prevent HIV and pregnancy
A robot that ultrasonically locates defective welds in ship hulls
The “SMartbed” system that adjusts bedroom curtains according to sleeping habits and monitors and reports on related and potentially dangerous health conditions
In 2020, DTU continues to award preferential scholarships to Electrical Engineering and Automation & Control Engineering students:
• 700 scholarships worth 500,000 to 2 million dong each for applicants with total high school scores of 22 or higher, including Electrical Engineering applicants.
• 720 High school graduation scores (HSGS) scholarships worth one to five million dong each for applicants with HSGS scores three to ten points higher than admission requirements, including Electrical Engineering applicants.
• 10 scholarships from Purdue Northwest University (PNU): 10 million dong each for applicants in the PNU International-standard Electrical Engineering program.
• 10 DTU scholarships, 5 million dong each, to applicants of Advanced PNU program.
