Opening of Master of Applied Journalism Course at DTU

On December 4, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Vietnam National University in Hanoi joined in the opening ceremony of the first year of the new Master of Applied Journalism course in Danang, aimed to improve the quality of journalists in central Vietnam and throughout the country.

Attendees included Dr. Mai Duc Loc, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Ms. Bach Nhu Nguyet, Deputy Representative of the Ministry of Information and Communication in the central region. The delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities included Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice-Provost, Assoc. Professor Dao Thanh Truong, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Associate Professor Dao Duc Thuan, Dean of the Faculty of Archives and Office Management and Associate Professor Thi Thu Hoa, Head of the Training Department. DTU was represented by Associate Professor Le Duc Toan, DTU Vice Provost, Associate Professor Nguyen Gia Nhu, Dean of the DTU Graduate School, DTU staff, lecturers and the 21 new students.
 
Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan said: “First of all, I would like to congratulate the 21 new students and wish you all great success on graduation. I also would like to express my gratitude to the DTU Board of Provosts and lecturers of the DTU Graduate School for supporting the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to organize an entrance exam and a supplementary Journalism course for the Master’s degree program. I am sure that our partnership will be highly successful”    
 
In 2019, enrollment for the Master of Applied Journalism was extended to 3 more provinces, in Danang, Binh Duong and Vinh Long. In Danang, DTU, is collaborating with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to enroll students. Lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will teach and DTU staff will be responsible for managing students and arranging classes.

The 21 students were chosen from many applicants and most of them work at news agencies, such as the Danang News, the Quang Nam News, the Education and Times News, the Supreme People’s Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s newspaper, the Vietnam Economic News, DRT and VTV8.
 
Student Hoang Tran Tu Phuong said: “We were very happy to attend the opening ceremony today. We want to learn more about becoming better journalists. I am sure that the lecturers of both universities will give us all their advice and support.”
