Long-term relationships with local resorts, hotels and travel companies have become an integral part of Hospitality and Tourism studies at DTU. Associate Professor Le Duc Toan, DTU Vice-Provost, says that this is vital in enhancing the quality of education, research and technology transfer.
Currently, most universities are focusing on teaching sustainable tourism development in Central Vietnam, to ensure that graduates are well-qualified for the very best career opportunities on offer.
Since 2006, DTU worked with the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper to hold annual job fairs to connect students with prospective employers. Seven hundred companies, with 18,512 job vacancies, received 26,459 applications over the past twelve years. In 2018 alone, 91 companies with 3,458 job vacancies attended, and the recruitment rate of Tourism and Foreign Language applicants was 43%.
Mr. Le Tan Thanh Tung, Deputy-Director of VITOURS, enthusiastically participates in the DTU job fairs every year, and said that his company always gives priority to DTU graduates because they are the best-qualified to meet the strict requirements of local travel agencies, where many now work in key positions.
DTU also partners with Penn State and Troy universities in America to provide cutting-edge Hospitality and Tourism Management courses, to improve English and other related practical skills. In addition, global exchange programs, in partnership with universities in South Korea and Taipei, broaden knowledge of the ASEAN Hospitality and Tourism industries there, improve Korean and Chinese language skills and provide first-hand practical experience through professional internships, in training for high-level future careers.
