The workshop
The workshop was part of a program from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium, in support of Vietnam for the period 2016–2018. Attendees included professors and experts from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium; the Wallonia-Brussels General Delegation to Vietnam and Schools of Law in Vietnam.
Representatives presenting research documentation on International Maritime Law
The workshop was to clarify the latest developments in international maritime law from research based on international and Vietnamese practices. It analyzed and evaluated the requirements to safeguard national sovereignty, whilst maintaining regional and worldwide peace and stability.
The workshop also provided valuable documentary evidence that Vietnamese law-makers and state agencies can now use in defending and enforcing the law-of-the-sea internationally. This research is being conducted at the VNU School of Law, and is now available to the government, DTU and others engaged in maritime law, management and shipping studies.
