Tram Duy Anh spent much time searching for a university offering him the research and study opportunities he wanted, because of his love of research, setting up projects, experimenting and working on ideas for the improvement of public health.

When he discovered its unique study environment, Duy Anh confidently chose DTU. His third prize at the 2018 National science and technology contest guaranteed him direct admission.
Project to produce bio-fertilizer with composting worms and grow clean vegetables at home
Duy Anh was well-known in his 12B8 class at the Ngo Gia Tu High School in Dak Lak for his dynamism and daring ideas. In 11th grade, Duy Anh and a classmate created a rather difficult research project for high school students. It was named: “Research into producing bio-fertilizer with composting worms, combined with probiotics to grow vegetables at home”.
Duy Anh heard about insanitary food, garbage, pesticides and environmental pollution which are constantly affecting people’s health and threatening their lives. He decided to research a source of fertilizer guaranteed to be perfectly safe for farmers and use organic waste mixed with probiotics to decompose it. He used composting worms to eat the garbage and excrete the feces. This yielded a high nutrient content, which will effectively fertilize crops, has been biologically tested and proven safe for use in agriculture. It is also cheap and reduces pollution. Duy Anh wants to set up self-sufficient systems right in people’s houses, where they can dedicate limited space on their terraces to breed the worms and to create compost to fertilize their crops, especially in cramped urban conditions.
Expanding clean food production based on an education in Business Administration
“When we first entered the National Science and Technology contest, we just wanted to meet others and learn,” Duy Anh explains. “Surprisingly, we got through the district and provincial rounds and were selected for the national competition. We won third prize, as a result of our in-depth research, and were supported by teachers and friends, who offered us expert guidance to complete the competition. Now I am even more convinced that deciding to study at DTU was my best choice and I believe that I will certainly succeed if I study here.”
Duy Anh and his colleagues
Duy Anh’s ambition is to set up his own business, so, most importantly, he must study to achieve a solid understanding of current business practices, as part of a high-standard educational program, studying with lecturers from well-known universities worldwide and the normal DTU lecturers. Duy Anh was pleasantly surprised when the university awarded him one of 120 talent scholarships, worth 6 billion vnd each.
“I wanted to expand production and do long-term business when my research concept of clean food was first recognized,” Duy Anh explains. “Now, after more thought, I am eager to become a member of DTU and, with my colleagues, focus on experimentation to promote a better opportunity for us to develop our knowledge and abilities.”
