Ngo Hoang Gia Han said, “I chose DTU because of its study environment. In particular, projects at the DTU Research and Application Centre on traditional medicinal plants satisfied my strong interest in this topic.”

A passionate for research

Han’s father is a pharmacist, so she learned about medicines as a child. She specializes in the development of herbal drugs, looks for plants in medicinal gardens and studies their healing effects, using books or the internet.

“I started learning about herbs to combat insomnia from my father and uncle. I developed a curative, functional product, entered the National Science and Technology Competition and won third prize while I was still in high school”, Han said.

Han dried and ground the herbs and tested the medicine on lab rats and human volunteers. Their positive comments made her more confident to develop more new projects at DTU.

Desire to cure more sick people

Studying Medicine & Pharmacy, Han continues to receive much support from her father and uncle and she has enrolled in the General Practitioner major. “I know well that Doctors and Pharmacists work closely together to cure the sick and I have always wanted to be a doctor, in order to help people.”, she said.
