With a total score of 26.25, Cam Thanh became one of the highest-scoring applicants and earned a full scholarship for the DTU Hospitality & Tourism Management On-Site Study-Abroad program, in partnership with Troy University in America.
Should not learn by heart for social subjects
While 80% to 90% of applicants in many provinces scored under 5, Cam Thanh excellently scored 8.5 in History in the High Graduation Exam. This is not only because she specialized in History at her Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Quang Nam province, but also because of her passion for this subject.
When Cam Thanh was a little girl, her grandfather told her about the Vietnamese wars and the sacrifices to win independence for the country. Thanks to her dedicated History teacher and to her watching lively documentaries, her love for History grew bigger and bigger. “History is not a subject for rote-learning but for accumulating knowledge, being inspired to learn and being proud. Learning History is easier if you know how to link events logically, look for interesting stories attached to each historical period in order to memorize the important events. Just as with Geography, you should not learn by heart if you want to get a high score. Instead, you should connect to the real world, learn more about different regions through current events and national and human introductory programs on television and in books."
During her three years of senior high school, Cam Thanh was usually an outstanding student and she won many prestigious awards. In grades 10 and 11, she participated in the April 30 Traditional Olympiad in Ho Chi Minh city and returned with a silver and a gold medal in History respectively. In grade 12, she excellently won a second prize at the City Outstanding Student contest thanks to her effort and hard work.
Want to introduce Vietnamese history and beauty to the world
Cam Thanh is a very independent person. Although she has to leave her home to study in Da Nang, she is pretty confident and ready since this will not be the first time she lives away from home. Cam Thanh left Dien Ban to study in Hoi An at Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted so she had to take care of herself and thus soon became an independent person. At high school, she had many close friends and participated in the Uoc Mo Xanh club, visited a lot of families who contributed to the revolution in Hoi An, and organized many activities at the orphanage.

Living in Hoi An Ancient Town, Cam Thanh always dreamt of introducing her home country’s beauty to the world. Therefore, she researched well-known universities that teach Tourism. Cam Thanh decided to sign up for the DTU Tourism & Hospitality Management On-Site Study-Abroad program: “Those Tourism training programs at DTU initially attracted me for their teaching method and materials from many well-known international universities.”
After signing up for the DTU On-Site Study-Abroad program, Cam Thanh was most concerned about the tuition fee since she comes from a farming family. Therefore, she had to try her best to achieve a high score. Hard work paid off. With a score of 26.25, Cam Thanh was awarded a full scholarship for the DTU On-Site Study-Abroad program. It is a wonderful opportunity to complete her dream of studying an American-standard training programing at home without having to worry about tuition fees.
