Dang Le Sin Uyen bypassed the normal DTU admissions process and enrolled before finishing 12th grade. She had already won first prizes and gold medals in local city contests and a second prize in Geography in the 2018 National Outstanding Student Competition.
Sin Uyen will continue to study hard because she has ambitious aspirations. She planned to join an advanced international program at a reputable university which offers overseas study opportunities. Her efforts were rewarded when she was offered a full scholarship for the DTU On-Site Tourism & Hospitality Management Study-Abroad program, in partnership with Troy University in America.

Overseas studies goal
Sin Uyen rapidly became well-known at the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, for her strong aptitude in Social Science and, in each of her three senior high school years, she won several valuable awards. In grade 10 she participated in the April 30 Traditional Olympiad in Ho Chi Minh city and returned with a much-desired gold medal, thanks to her mastery of Geography. In both grades 11 and 12, Sin Uyen won a first prize in Geography in a local city contest and, in grade 12, a second prize in Geography at the 2018 National Outstanding Student contest. Despite being the top student in her class for several years, Sin Uyen always thought she could do even better.
Unfortunately, her family could not afford to pay for her university studies, so Sin Uyen worked hard to improve her English and investigated advanced international partnership programs and scholarships.
“I found that DTU matched my interests and my strength in Social Science,” Sin Uyen explains. “My main objective now is to study abroad by becoming eligible for a scholarship to attend Troy University after two years at DTU.”

Being a public or private university should not affect school choice
Sin Uyen is sincere and decisive when being asked why she chose a private school over a public one. “Young people today see things very differently than before,” she asserts. “The traditional concept that public universities were better than private ones is gone. Instead universities are now chosen on their reputation and how a specific major fits student requirements, especially in terms of future career opportunities. I discovered that DTU is the first and largest private university in Central Vietnam and very focused on investing in international programs. As a result, DTU collaborates with well-known universities in the US, the UK and Taiwan, which cemented my decision to study here!”
When Sin Uyen scored 7.6 in English in the High Graduation Exam she was assured of a full scholarship, and was ecstatic. “Now I can study with peace of mind without having to worry about tuition fees,” she says.
Sin Uyen grew up in Danang and quickly realized the big potential of the tourism industry and opportunities for new hotels, restaurants and allied services. Her ambition is return home after studying abroad, establish a national hotel chain to meet ever-increasing demand and offer her guests some unique regional food dishes, to introduce Vietnamese cuisine and culture to the rest of the world.
