The 21st Youth Informatics Competition Kicks off

On May 3rd, DTU kicked off the 21st Youth Informatics Competition. Local agencies, the DTU Board of Provosts and many IT students attended.

The Danang Youth Union, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Science and Technology, VNPT, the Softech Corporation and the FPT Center of International Practice jointly held the competition. Its aim is to promote IT learning and teaching, Informatics study in high schools, centers for continuing education and centers of information technology in Danang, and has been sponsored by DTU for the past four years.

Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, DTU Vice-Provost said: “Informatics is currently essential, and the growth of IT is one of the most important factors which measures the development of a country. The increasing number of contestants confirms the importance of focusing on IT learning and teaching. As co-organizer, our objective is to find talented students and help them improve their abilities to contribute to the development of our city.”

The contestants

There were 782 contestants, including 376 from primary schools, 241 from secondary schools and 165 from high schools, who presented 153 innovative software and 29 hardware products. 

DTU did an excellent job preparing facilities and staff for the contest. Students were equipped with highly configurable computers, a stable internet connection, modern projectors and other devices to support them in their presentations. The leading contestants will be chosen for an Informatics team to advance to the upcoming 24th competition in Vung Tau in August.
