Embedded Systems is receiving strong investment from leaders in the fields of Information Technology and Electronics worldwide and has been identified as the foundation of the development of smart devices and the upcoming Industrial Revolution 4.0. In addition, the arrival of new branches of Embedded Systems companies in Vietnam, especially in Danang, has led to a big demand for new staff, and offers of attractive salaries. The timing of the new DTU Embedded Systems major is very opportune and will address the need to educate more expert professionals in this sector.
Embedded systems are computing systems, such as PLCs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs that are programmed into a system to execute very specific functions. Simple examples include everyday products such as computers, mobile phones and cars, where they are integrated into systems that control vital operations. Almost all electronic devices nowadays, including communications equipment, measurement devices, and industrial, civil and military electronics use embedded systems.
Modern DTU laboratories for training Embedded Systems
The range of embedded systems will grow with the ongoing development of new, smart, compact and practical devices. Embedded Systems students will learn all the necessary basic and advanced techniques related to electronic engineering and the design of integrated circuit boards, including logic and transistor design, programming, hardware design and hardware-software integration.
It is a major with a tremendous number of practice hours, which is why DTU provides modern laboratories with all equipment necessary for lecturing and practicing, such as:
• Embedded Systems lab
• Advanced Communications lab
• Logic lab
• Electronics and Microprocessors practice room
• IoT practice workshop
• Robotica center
DTU collaborates with Purdue University to develop advanced international curricula. Embedded Systems students have access to Purdue University’s well-developed courses, taught by American lecturers.
Graduates will be employed by companies in the fields of electronics, information communications and computers, in domestic and international companies, working in embedded systems and circuit design firms such as Samsung, Viettel, Intel, Bosch, Renesas (Japan), Acronic (American, with branches in HCMC and Danang), eSilicon (American, with branches in Hanoi, HCMC and Danang), Global CyberSoft, Savarti, Unify, FPT, VNPT Technology, STECH, and CENTIC, in software companies and in manufacturers of household appliances, including LG Electronics, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic, in the military and medical institutions that all use electronic equipment, integrated programming and other automated systems based on embedded systems.
Embedded Systems is the major of the future, with excellent starting salaries for new graduates, ranging from $450 to $700 a month, increasing exponentially based on skills and experience.
To encourage early enrollments in 2018, DTU will award the following scholarships to Embedded Systems applicants:
- Scholarships worth 1 million vnd each for applicants from Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
- A 10% to 15% reduction in first-year tuition fees for students with high grades and an early application.
- Scholarships worth 500,000 to 2 million vnd each for applicants with a High School transcript of 22 points or more.
