A Meeting with Students of Toyama University in Japan

On January 16th, DTU International School students met students from Toyama University from Japan, led by Professor Yasuro Uchida, Vice-Dean of the Economics. Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Vice-Provost and Mr. Nguyen Huy Phuoc, Director of the DTU Global Exchange Office, attended.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu and Professor Yasuro Uchida stated that they planned to expand the relationship between the two universities in the near future. 

Students gave presentations Economic topics. The University of Toyama began with two, on “A survey of actual conditions in ‘black companies’ through text mining” and “The importance and value of IoT products: How to deal with new commercial lock-in strategies”, demonstrating their understanding of  “black companies”, the differences between “black” and “white” companies, why this difference exists, how companies lock in customers, how IoT products generate a lock-in effect, and what the eight new lock-in strategies are.

Their talk about “Bitcoin, a Vietnamese perspective” included opinions on whether or not to invest in it. The students also had a lively exchange on issues raised in the three talks, as well as on other topics related to work style, social structure and the working environments in Vietnam and Japan.

Nguyen Ngoc Hoang Khiem, who enrolled in an MBA degree course at Toyama University after graduating from DTU in 2014, said: “I am delighted that Professor Uchida brought the Toyama University delegation to DTU. I was able to share information about my studies in Japan with the current DTU students.”
