Two innovative projects by Da Nang youths - the Multi-functional printing system by Duy Tan University and the Agricultural biotechnology application project by the Danang University of Education - were displayed at an exhibition of the 10th Viet Nam Nationwide Creative Competition for Young Innovators and the 11th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union.

The ‘Print/Scan/Copy Self-Service System’, jointly developed by Huynh Nil Giang and Nguyen Huu Chien from the DTU Center of Electricity and Electronics, allows users to easily print, scan, and copy without assistance on how to operate it.
The device will be used for printing, scanning of documents, and photocopying of documentation by students, staff, and lecturers of the school. It offers an easy and rapid way for users to print, scan, and copy without assistance on how to operate the machine. The device includes an embedded system with integrated printing, scanning, and copying functionality in one multifunctional machine; and one device (integrated embedded board system) to communicate with and to receive commands from the user and to control the multipurpose printer.
Collecting fees for using the device is also very simple: either directly or online through the civilian, organization, or business account through the built-in authentication. Administrating the machine and collecting statistics is easy through the afore-mentioned account or through a barcode card.
The machine provides users with three easy options for payment: paying and receiving change in cash, paying with a personnel or student card with barcode, or paying with an ATM card. Besides, the printer can connect to a database server to allow online payment and monitoring, recording, and receiving payment for printing, scanning, and copying through a student or staff/faculty card.
Huynh Nil Giang said: “I am so proud that our product was selected to be displayed at the exhibition and attracted a lot of interest. Every day we provided product-related information to hundreds of visitors. We are planning to develop a vending machine, a self-service washing machine and other self-payment machines in the coming time.”
According to Truong Trung Phuong, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Danang University of Education, participating in the 10th Viet Nam Nationwide Creative Competition for Young Innovators was a great opportunity for youth members to introduce their research projects that brought great benefits to local farmers. These projects have helped enhance the livelihoods of local farmers, and thereby partly promoting the upgrade of rural areas. The Agricultural biotechnology application project by students of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences of the Danang University of Education features products using algal and fungal biotechnology, and plant tissue culture technology. The university has already provided a large amount of F1, F2 and F3 hybrid seeds to local farmers, mainly edible and medicinal mushrooms, different types of flowers and medicinal herbs. Besides, they are going to produce some mushroom products such as mushroom cake, mushroom dry and mushroom powder.
