Welcome Ceremony for First-year Students of American Degree Programs

On August 19th, DTU held a Welcome Ceremony for first-year students of the American degree programs in Hospitality and Hotel Management and IT, in partnership with Troy University. Attendees included Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University; Dr. Earl Ingrame, Vice Chancellor of Troy University; Mr. Vo Cong Tri, Deputy Secretary of the Danang Party Committee; Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President & Provost; and students of the Troy University On-Site Study-Abroad programs at Duy Tan University.

Speaking at the event, Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co said: “Over the years, DTU has made sustained efforts in international collaboration to offer students high quality academic programs. Today, we warmly welcome another renowned university from the U.S to DTU: Troy University. DTU is the third partner in Vietnam to sign the On-Site Study-Abroad programs in Hospitality & Tourism Management and IT with Troy University. We hope the partnership with Troy University will create a special attraction when the quality of education at DTU reaches new heights.”

“The world is changing faster than ever and we're going to have to adapt faster than ever too to survive the age of integration and collaboration.”, Dr. Jack Hawkins said. “That is why Troy University enrolls students from all over the world. Presently, students from seventy-six countries study at Troy University, of whom over one hundred are from Vietnam. Partnering with DTU, we focus on the quality of education and provide students with a great opportunity to integrate into the world. Students of Troy University Programs will gain hands-on experience and accumulate knowledge efficiently for their bright future career.” 
 
 
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co awarded a full scholarship to Le Thi Thu Ngan, the student with highest National High School Exam score enrolled in the Troy Degree Program

Under the collaborative agreement, students will study at DTU and earn an accredited American Troy University degree. Freshmen study English and introductory topics and sophomores will study additional professional subjects, all taught in English by DTU and Troy University lecturers. In the final two years, students focus on more specialized subjects, working with Troy University professors only.

A full scholarship worth 454 million dong was awarded to Le Thi Thu Ngan, who scored 28.5 in the 2017 National High School Exam and enrolled in the new Hospitality and Hotel Management program. 

Gaining good scores in the national high school exam, Doan Thuy Linh decided to enroll in the Troy University program in IT. She said: “This enrollment season, we are proud to enroll in the Troy University program to enjoy an American education.  Thanks to the collaboration between Troy University and DTU, Vietnamese students like me are able to study an international-standard program in Vietnam. We expect to gain as much experience and knowledge as possible. This is the very opportunity for me to begin the journey of obtaining knowledge for my life.” 

Troy University is a public institution that was founded in Troy, Alabama in 1887. Troy University is ranked 69th in the 2017 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities South and 23rd on the list of leading public universities. It is well-known for its high quality of education in Hospitality Management, the Arts and other disciplines. Over the past 130 years, Troy University has graduated 100,000 students, and it has four campuses in Alabama and an additional sixty campuses in seventeen US states and eleven countries around the world, including Vietnam and Malaysia.
