Many applicants with impressive 2017 High School Graduation Exam scores have already been accepted and received full or partial scholarships or other awards, including Le Thi Thu Ngan, with 28.5 points, which equals the highest entry score of 2015.
Tenaciously pursuing her passion
Le Thi Thu Ngan is a Literature student from the Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Hoi An, in Quang Nam Province. She achieved almost perfect scores in the 2017 High School Graduation Exam for A Block subjects, with 9.5 points for Physics, 9.5 in Chemistry and 9.0 in Mathematics. At school, Ngan often competed in Skilled Literature Student contests but her strengths really lay in the natural sciences and she has tenaciously nurtured her love for those subjects, normally seen as boring compared with the social sciences.
“Whenever I study, I try to remain relaxed, not allowing myself to be stressed by exams,” Ngan explained. “I focus on learning theory in the classroom but also spend much time on practical work, doing exercises and answering sample exam questions. To solve more advanced problems, I always revise my basic knowledge, to firmly grasp the fundamentals and then build up the difficulty from there. When studying for exams, I collect a variety of extra questions from the internet or from teachers and friends to broaden my problem-solving skills and practice time-management, before entering the exam room.”
Le Thi Thu Ngan wants to become a good manager in Tourism
Actively facing the twists of life…
Ngan is the youngest daughter in a family of five and her parents have always inspired her and given her the self-confidence to excel in her studies. She has never let them down and has always been one of her school’s best students and the pride of her family.
Ngan explained: “I could have been accepted at several good Vietnamese universities with a score of 28.5. However, I suddenly discovered DTU while I was researching universities close to home, ones that guaranteed me a good study environment for self-development and which would also reduce the financial burden on my parents, I heard from other students from my high school who are now studying at DTU. They talked about the dynamic study environment there, with modern classrooms, equipment and an infrastructure that encourages self-study and research. After doing more research myself, I applied and was lucky to receive a full scholarship for the On-Site Study-Abroad program for an American degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management, a joint program in partnership with Troy University. I will work hard to win another of the three scholarships covering tuition at Troy University, for the next three years after the first year.”
Ngan and other outstanding 2017 applicants confidently chose to study at DTU, the “First and Largest Private University in Central Vietnam” and the number one choice of students who have dedicated themselves to the Hospitality and Tourism sector and to the ambition of gaining the expert knowledge and practical experience to become successful managers and professionals in the near future.
